Help with Mods - A newbie's struggles

Hi guys, I recently decided to play Skyrim again and wanted to try modding as I just scraped enough together to buy a new pc. Now I know I have alot of mods so there's probably a conflict somewhere but I can't find it. I have LOOT, Wrye Bash, TES5edit, FNIS, ENBoost. I have the Antique Dragon ENB installed to. Here's the issue, whenever I try to load or start a new character it crashes instantly. I've gone through countless videos, tried reading Tes5edit etc and was just wondering if anyone would be able to help. I am new at all this so please keep the insults to a minimum. Not gonna lie, at this rate I'd pay to have someone tell me where I've gone wrong

First of all, this belongs in the Troubleshooting category.

I'm going to suggest a few ideas.

 

Most important note when going over this: if a step works, then something in that is the problem - at least one of the mods that you disabled during that step are the problem.

If a step doesn't work - revert to the state before that step.

If you are using NMM, I would suggest creating a new profile before each step and as I said before - revert back when necessary by simply clicking on the previous profile (and then a new one again).

Also, after each step run LOOT - just in case.

 

Here's what I suggest:

1) Disable Disparity, Imperious and RaceMenu then try to load the game.

2) Disable major mods - heavy mods that add locations, items or any mod that weighs more than 100MB. Then check if it loads.

 

3) If still nothing works, do the soft "reinstall" - disable ALL the mods you have (maybe except USLEP).

Now load the game.

If it STILL doesn't load - you have a problem with the game files. Reinstall it.

If disabling all solved the problem, then start enabling mods again - enable 2-5 mods then check if it loads.

Again - run LOOT before every load!!!

 

After you find what mod(s) cause the problem - let us know and I'll try to help out.

^That's good advice. You might also check to see if any of your mods requires a master file you're not using. That's a common cause of early crashing like that.

So I accidentally skipped to step 3 and tried reinstalling mods till I came across the issue, I believe it was expanded settlements that was the issue because it seemed to clash with immersive citizens so thankyou so much guys :)

Look for a patch on the nexus or read their descriptions - maybe they explain how to solve it.

not related, move xpmse towards bottom of load order right above bashed patch.

 

i would reinstall skse and then skyui. after reinstalling them( gopher and gamer poets both have great videos on installing at least skse) i would deactivate all texture mods and check in game. if it works add back textures mods and recheck.
