uhmattbravo
Well yeah in a way, but I was more referring to wether or not using such assets is allowed on the site (or by copyright law) which goes more to making sure the site you get them from is legit and be mindful of what the licencing is on each model. soldier1234
or if somebody can 3d scan an image and put in via game is that allowed also?
dubiousintent
While we can offer opinions, the only people who can give a definitive answer to a specific proposal to get any image you didn't create yourself into a mod is to ask the moderators. They much prefer you ask the question first. -Dubious-

madmongo
A lot probably depends on what the 3-D image is. Technically you're making a "derivative work" so scanning someone else's photographs into a 3-D model will probably violate their copyright. I've poked around various 3-D model sites, and some of these have 3-D scanned models. I've never found one that I have been able to use. For one thing, the scans usually end up completely borking part of the object. The second issue is that these objects often end up with too many vertices for the nif tools and the game engine to handle properly, so you don't end up with a usable model anyway. Heck, a lot of the high poly models out there that aren't 3-D scanned won't work for the same reason. Too many verts. I've found some amazing models that just completely fell apart when I tried to import them into FNV.

For quite a few models, i've been able to split the mesh into a few separate pieces (blocks?) and they export (and work in game) just fine.
