Unused mod cleanup

Ok, I was trying out some mods but already know by now the ones I want and the ones I do not want to use. But my save games are a bit large (20 megs the smaller one no big active mods; about 40 megs if I activate the mods, only a dozen of them, not too many).

Problem is I still see in the game, some remnants of mods currently unactive, like:

I used Crimson Blood, now its OFF, and I can still see the blood sparks and splatters in my screen.

I used Female Follower fix to give Lydia a female stance, now with the mod unactive she still walks in the female style.

I used Amazing Follower Tweaks, dismissed Lydia, saved the game; then I turned that mod OFF, loaded the game, when I was riding my horse straight to Whiterun, I see Lydia naked heading to the city.

Tried a really nice mod to remove interior fog in dungeons and caves, now I can't activate the mod again. Whatever this mod order in the list, dungeons keep the fog. I can be mistaken with the fog meshes, the fog does not replace, but I'm pretty sure the cave where I tested should have that fog OFF with this mod (Korvanjund).

Is there a way to remove the mod information from the save game? There are a few mods I don't want to use anymore, others than the ones I mentioned, those I still want to use, and I feel the game freezing a few seconds each minute or so. Its a big breakdown in immersion. Iits my 1st non fast traveling character to maintain this realism, and Its a pain if I need to start all over with the same set of mods from the start.

Thank you.

Small update: as my latest save game, only on player level 16, reached 45 Mb, I tried loading an earlier one, a level 11, 6 Mb save. Ok, very smooth, but when I started roaming around, leveled up to 12, did a quest in Riften, and after only a few saves, file reached 20 Mb. How ??

I really need to thin them very much, or I'm going to start to lag a lot long before I finish whatever questlines I do...

Thanks.

Ps: following a tip I read on the forums here, I'll try to save the game in a small closed room, backup the save game, uninstall, delete all the files, and start over. Then, use the previous saved game.
