I've got that problem too. I disabled my firewall (Windows Defender). I went through the Nexus "Lost Password" procedure, in case that was the problem.

 

SOLUTION: Manually update NMM to version 0.65.2. Do not remove old NMM, just install over it.

Do I install the new NMM like a mod? It's different this time.

You install it like a software program, run the installer EXE and follow the instructions. Just this time simply install it over the existing one instead of uninstalling your previous NMM before. Then all your mods and everything should stay as it is.

 

Oh, but 0.65.2 apparently did have some bugs post release, which were fixed by further updates later on. It's now at 0.65.4, as far as I know. Get the latest version from the GitHub repository instead. Just read the bugfix history from 0.65.2 upwards, if you still need reason to use a newer version than 0.65.2.
