Considering playing an Illusion Archer

I was thinking of playing a stealth based character that excels in the use of the bow (fill out skill tree, except maybe for steady hand). I would also have her excel in alchemy (all perks except snake blood and purity) and have seven perks in light armor and eight or nine perks in sneak (whole right side of the skill tree and 5/5 of the first perk and maybe muffle). Playing an archer gets hard when you run into a mob of enemies, though, so I figure I should also incorporate Illusion magic. Would Illusion magic do me well in hard situations, especially with 3-6 bandits, forsworn, or vampires? Should it help a lot with automatons?

Some other ideas I have about this character. One perk for steel smithing because a lot of mods make use of steel smithing. Get enough perks in speech to get merchant and investor. Do four or five perks in pickpocketing because I hear the thieves guild has some quests where you pickpocket, and I wouldn't mind stealing gold from trainers. I might use a sword and shield sometimes (I'm thinking a 'counter dagger'; it is from a mod). I could get the mod that allows multiple rings and put one fortify one-handed ring on each hand and one fortify block ring on each hand, or just one of each; not sure yet. I'd make use of one fortify archery ring, too. I'll limit myself to five rings for combat enhancement. Might put two perks into block just to get 'quick reflexes'.

That Skyrim calculator is great for planning what type of character to make. What do you guys think of a character like that? Could be fun? Do you think she'd be able to handle herself well going solo most times? I'd like to quest solo as much as I can with her.

I have a question about Illusion magic, as well. Can you easily pickpocket someone while the spell calm is under effect for them?
