why do armors load so differently in a load order

Just wondering why armor mods load so differently in the load order when they are just armor mods. Some load fairly high, some more in the middle and some load further down toward the end. I am trying to get a better handle on load order. I have read a faq somewhere that says certain types of mods should be loaded in a certain order. example: overhaul mods or texture replacers or game overhauls, utilities etc. I think there where roughly 12 - 14 different mod type slots.

Yet armor mods seem to want to go where-ever. I do use loot, so I always expected my armor mods to be roughly clumped together and they are not. I have notice the same thing with follower mods, but I always thought that because they can have such different content, that made them load differently, but they are not as widely spread though the load order as armors can be.

Depends on the type of armor mod. A mod that just adds a few new armors with no integration to the greater game (except maybe crafting them) can be placed pretty much anywhere in a load order. Those mods are mostly self contained, so they don't affect anything and hence their load order matters very little. An armor replacer mod that edits the vanilla armors is more picky, because there's a chance of other mods (like Weapons & Armor Fixes or even some quest mods) editing them also.

the armors i am talking about are not "integrated to the greater game" as far as I know. examples: BloodWitch armor, (stays in the middle) Merta assassin, Merta Black Rose, Tembtra Thief armors as well as the Newmiller Elven Sniper armor all like to load closer to the bottom, while AncientDraugr, CrimsonTwilight and chain metal outfit like to be closer to the top

I don't think there is a reason why LOOT is having some armor load low and others high. I personally have all my armors in load order clumped together, minus 1 that is an esm file, that 1 gets clumped with other esm files.

You always need to look at what the mod "also" does. I don't know how much things changed with Skyrim, but by past experience with previous games of the series, I'm seeing a lot of conflict potential by reading the descriptions alone.

The Blood Witch Armor seems to be putting a chest into the Abandoned House in Markarth, so every mod also touching this house, or better yet the exact same cell, will potentially be in conflict, and load order between the two (or more) must be set up accordingly.

The Merta Assassin Armor puts a crafting manual into the DB Sanctuary in Falkreath. Again, everything touching the same cell will potentially conflict, and thus load order must be adapted accordingly between these mods.

etc. etc. etc.

Just because it's an Armor Mod, doesn't mean that's the only thing it does. And load order will become important for "everything" it touches, one way or another, so they can never just go all into the same place.

But wait for someone more knowledgeable than me to tell you more. I'd be surprised though, if my guesstimation was completely wrong.

Thank you all for replying. And Thank you DrakeTheDragon. You are probably right. At least two more of the other Armor mods change a location or value in the game and your answer makes perfect sense. Its easy when you are new to modding to overlook those little details. Lustmord vampire armor makes changes at "something" tongue overlook by riften. can't remember the first part of the name. both of the Merta armors add a book someplace in the game. BloodWitch as you noted is in Markarth. Not yet sure about the Newmiller Elven Sniper armor, but I would bet it touches game files somewhere as well. I will have to look into it.

To Jessegtgt: Yup you are right it is a good read. "(Only You can prevent Forest Fires.)" ran across it a few times now. It is part of the reason I asked this question, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it , whether they are new to modding or not.
