Brutii
RED FACTION: EDF OPPRESSION The year, is 2120... Welcome to mars... The Earth Defense Force (EDF) were the allies of the original Red Faction, the saviors of mars, the liberators... but the liberators quickly became the oppresors. Although initially supportive of the Martian miners, Earth's natural resources have run scarce, and as a result, its world economy has collapsed from lack of production. Under pressure by Earth's corporations and leaders to acquire the resources of Mars at any cost and at a pace to meet Earth's high demand, the EDF has forced Martian society into a permanent state of labour, miners must toil all day for little pay... and if someone in the EDF thinks a civilian is even thinking a rude thought, they'll shoot them. Forget what you heard, the EDF are uniting earth and mars, they're enslaving them. The newly-reformed "Red Faction" is revolting against the EDF in an attempt to drive them off the planet SECTORSTheir are several sector that are inhabitable, being covered by the terraforming (WARNING WALL OF TEXT): Parker: Parker Sector was named after Parker, one of the heroes of the original Red Faction uprising against the Ultor Corporation. Parker was the first sector to be settled after the terraforming process was advanced sufficiently. Most of the population lived in the north, away from the wastelands to the south. The Earth Defense Force control the Ore Processing Center in the north while some of the corporations have there hands in mining, the ore centre is known to offer extremely low prices for large quantities of ore, but people need the money to survive. Dust: Dust is a dirty and rough environment. The sector contains the greatest concentration of ore on Mars. This makes Dust a key target of the EDF and Earth-based corporations. The AmRuKuo Company owns the mining operations and fuel refineries in the north, though EDF provide protection for them, and own other refineries in the area. In the area is the Tharsis-point wind farm which generate power for the sector. In the east, at the border with The Badlands is the resisdential housing for the population. The Badlands: The Badlands are the sector to the east of dust, and though thanks to the failure of the terrafroming process the sector was a wasteland, it still supports life well enough. The Marauders, a violent and bitter warrior culture descended from the scientists of the Ultor Corporation (Although no one but the marauders know this), have set up their bases in the furthest reaches of the sector. They lived out beyond the Irradiated Zone as well as in Mariner Valley, protected in the irradiated zones by their customised suits. The area was littered with old Ultor Corporation facilities leftover from the First Martian Revolution, and a large Mohole aided the terraforming process. A few abandoned and dead settlements like Redemption III are present. The Earth Defense Force in turn have significant infrastructure in the area to combat the threat posed by the scavengers and have been in conflict with them for years. Key to their control of the sector is the EDF Badlands Outpost, a massive base including garages and an airfield for EDF Gunships. Mariner Valley: The Mariner Valley is an area within the Badlands with a high population of Marauders and a large Earth Defense Force presence. It was the site of the Battle of Mariner Valley, a conflict prior to the Second Martian Revolution. Oasis: Of course, even in oppression there are the upper classes. Oasis is a sector of located to the north of the Badlands and south east of Eos and was the site of the terraforming effort that transformed the surface of the planet after the First Martian Revolution against the Ultor Corporation. The goal of scientists in Eos and Oasis is to adapt more and more varieties of plants to the martian ecosystem, and Oasis is the testing ground for this grass coating the flatter, open slopes of the sector. Several species of plants also grow.As a result of the Oasis area is a much more desirable area to live than Parker or Dust and the Oasis Residential streched right down the Eastern length of the sector is divided into many small estates. The Free Fire Zone: The free fire zone is a large restricted area to the northern end of the Parker sector which acted as a buffer zone between the capital sector of Eos, the crown jewel of the Earth Defense Force, and the rest of the inhabitable sectors. The EDF Artillery Base to the north of the region had firing line over its entire extent, though certain blindspots do exist although only high ranked EDF personnel know of them. The range of the artillery at the artillery base is unknown, though the range of these big guns is undeniably formidable, being able to hit mount Vogel. Eos: Eos is the capital of Mars, founded after the First Martian Revolution, and the most technologically advanced and wealthiest sector of Tharsis during the reign of the Earth Defense Force. It is also the powerbase of the EDF.The sector was named after the mysterious revolutionary who went by the alias, Eos. She founded the Red Faction and instigated revolt against the Ultor Corporation in the First Martian Revolution. The city sector is dotted with numerous monuments and memorials including the Eos Memorial Bridge and the EDF War Memorial. Although the Martian state technically has its own indepentant government for the half-century between the revolutions, the Martian Council based at Hendrix Hall, this is merely a puppet government the real power lay in the hands of Generals in the EDF Central Command in the north of the sector. The sector also played host to the 'Voice of Mars', the EDFs broadcasting service which airs across the whole of the inhabitable sectors and often spouted blatant propaganda for the regime. The architecture of the Eos sector generally includes sleek, towering blue and white buildings with broad public spaces and plazas. To the southern border of the sector lay the Free Fire Zone. The eastern border is occupied by Oasis whilst Mount Vogel lies to the north. Mount Vogel: Mount Vogel is a snow-covered sector, located north of the capital sector of Eos, it is predominantly uninhabited, though EDF bases exist. The sector is littered with structures left over from the Ultor Corporation from before the First Martian Uprising. One such structure is the Accelerator, a remanant Ultor nanotechnology site which was maintained by the Marauders. Irradiated Zone: The Irradiated Zone is an area located in the Badlands sector. As its name suggests, radiation is extremely high in this area, causing the colonists of Mars to stay far away from it. Though the Marauders have made the technology to survive in the Irradiated Zone, and sealed, air tight suits can be used to get through the radiation, though only the EDF seem to have these suits, seeing how much of their armour variations are already air tight. However, the radiation isn't the only danger in this zone, as the Marauders have set up their main base in the Irradiated Zone, thus causing many raids in the area as well. THE FACTIONS NOTE: The weapons lists are only weapons that the players of that faction may take into the field, players from factions may use them if they get their hands on them in the field, though they may not rush out carrying weapons fashioned by the other team, so a red faction member is not going to have a rail driver at the begining, and an EDF soldier is not going to have a sledgehammer. The EDFhttp://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111014060325/redfaction/images/e/e7/EDFLogo.png"The EDF... they own the road and everthing else... forget the propaganda, free mars is over..." The Earth Defence Force exists as the primary governing body over Mars with its capital in Eos. Originally arriving at then end of the First Martian Revolution; When Earth began to run out of its own natural resources, the EDF began to morph into what the Ultor Corporation had been - a corrupt oppressive overlord. Martial law was enforced, rights revoked and the population subdued forcibly. They arrived and defeated Ultor. But unfortunately for the civilians and miners, Earth began to run out of their natural resources and needed to secure its supply. The EDF became ever more controlling, eventually establishing martial law and soon began to limit the rights of the civilians and miners in the Tharsis region. Some members are loyal, die hard members, other members are corrupt, paid off by corperations to ensure that the quota is made, regardless of how much it costs in lives, maybe quietly a couple want to do what the EDF came to mars to do, defend the people, but they won't admit it...The ranks that are known to be used by the EDF are: GeneralColonelMajorCaptainFirst LieutenantSecond LieutenantMaster SergeantSergeant First ClassStaff SergeantSergeantCorporalPrivate First ClassPrivate Types of armour and loadoutEDF Grunt: Blue armour. The pinacle of EDF weapons technology is the singularity bomb. Pistol - The pistol is the basic EDF side-arm, carried only by their lowliest grunts. It can be, however, very accurate and deadly in trained hands. Assault Rifle - The assault rifle is a basic weapon used by EDF soldiers, capable of sustained automatic fire. Proximity Mine - A powerful smart explosive, these could be set to only be triggered by hostiles and were great defensively. Subverter - The Subverter is a fully automatic side-arm, it is fast firing, though inacurate. Peacekeeper - The Peacekeeper is the EDFs automatic close-range shotgun, and was far more fomidable against melee and close quarter attacks than the standard EDF Assault Rifle. Sniper Rifle - Used primarily by EDF specialists, the sniper rifle is extremely deadly at all ranges. Enforcer - Although not as hard-hitting as the EDF assault rifle, the Enforcer's homing bullets more than make up for it in accuracy whilst firing on the move. Gauss Rifle - A kind of heavy assault rifle, the Gauss Rifle is about as hard-hitting as the come - able to shoot down some walls and tip some vehicles. Rail Driver - A weapon with a well established history on Mars, Rail Drivers fire metal slugs at extremely high-velocity and could penetrate anything from vehicles to walls completely nullifying 'cover.' The EDF Rail Driver, like most, came with x-ray scopes allowing the user to see through solid objects making nowhere safe. Rocket Launcher- A powerful blast very effetive against Armor units like the tanks. Singularity Bomb- About as cutting edge as military hardware could get, the EDF Singularity Bomb creates a micro-singularity which sucks up everything in its area from buildings to vehicles to people and compresses them, before exploding the matter outwards. EDF VehiclesIn its deployment on the red planet, the Earth Defence Force utilised a large range of vehicles. The combat Walker- The Combat Walker is a walker, Its weapons are twin Multiple Rocket Launch Systems mounted on both sides of the cockpit. Its missiles, cause large damage. Access restricted to Master Sergeant and above EDF Scout Car - The EDF Scout Car is a high-mobility vehicle used by the EDF for patrols, fast-response and scouting around the time of the Second Martian Revolution. Access unrestricted EDF Staff Car - The EDF Staff Car is a version of the Scout Car with twice the carrying capacity, and is often used for the transport of high-ranking personnel. Access Restricted to Sergeant and above EDF Armored Personnel Carrier - The EDF Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) is the standard troop transporter of the Earth Defence Force. Access restricted to Sergeant and Above EDF Cargo Truck - The EDF Cargo Truck, or Heavy Truck, is a military heavy hauler in EDF service. Access restricted to Staff Sergeant and above EDF Medium Tank - The EDF Medium Tank is a fast response combat situations vehicle, armed with cannon and coaxial HMG. Access restricted to Master sergeant and Above EDF Main Battle Tank - The EDF Main Battle Tank is a bigger and stronger version of the Medium Tank, now used for main war and equiped with the same tank´s weapons (cannon and coaxial HMG). Access restricted to Captain and Above EDF Mobile Rocket Artillery - The EDF Mobile Rocket Artillery is a long support tank, equiped with 6 3-missile pods, with the same Main Tank´s body and a similar resistance. Access restricted to First lieutenant and Above EDF Gunship - The backbone of EDF air supremecy, EDF Gunships are the standard EDF aircraft. Access restricted to Sergeant First Class and above EDF Bomber - Used rarely, the EDF Bombers are aircraft stationed on Mars. Access restricted to First lieutenant and above EDF Dropship - Used by the EDF in their first deployment on Mars against the Ultor Corporation. Access restricted to Second Lieutenant and above The Red Faction"We're under martial law here... Prison camps... torture... death squads... The commanders of the red faction are skilled and are granted access to the best the red faction has to offerLieutenant: Weaponry: Arc Welder, Grinder, Sledgehammer, Remote charge, Pistol, Assualt rifle,. The lieutenants of the red faction are officers, usually entrusted with the lead of medium to large sized raids on EDF outposts. They may use the Arc WelderGuerrilla Sergeant: Grinder, Sledgehammer, Remote charge, Pistol, Assualt rifle. The Guerrilla Sergeant may be put incharge of small raids, and is often seen commanding AmbushesGeurrilla: Remote Charge, Pistol, Assualt rifle, Sledgehammer. The Guerrila is basically the rebel, only the geurrilla has been trained in how to use other weapons.Rebel: Pistol, Sledgehammer. The Rebel is a simple civilain, who has decided to take up arms against the EDF. Red Faction weaponsThe red faction have created a few weapons to support their cause, though most of their weapons come from whats stolen from the enemy and stored, although the red faction are mainly underground and using guerilla tactics. Pistol - The pistol is the basic EDF side-arm, carried only by their lowliest grunts. It can be, however, very accurate and deadly in trained hands, quite a few of these weapons have been captured by the red faction.Assualt rifle- The assault rifle is a basic weapon used by EDF soldiers, capable of sustained automatic fire. A few of these weapons have been scavenged from the EDF, but still no where near as many as PistolsArc Welder -An Electric weapon that can fire at mutiple enemies, but it has it's drawbacks, it has to be recharged and can be unstableGrinder - Another improvised scrap weapon, the Grinder was absolutely lethal. It fires spinning metal discs at extreme speed towards enemies, but it is heavy, inaccurate and the discs are also rather heavyRemote Charge - Originally intended for mining, these had been utilized as weapons since the First Red Faction Uprising.Sledgehammer - Originally a mining tool, now a deadly melee weapon.Thermobaric Rocket Launcher - A deadly and dangerous launcher. Similar to the FTL-1 Fusion Rocket Launcher used by the Mercenaries in the First Red Faction uprising. Very destructive, though slow travelling, rare, very heavy and ammo is scarce, only available to the highest of the red faction members, and even they may only be carrying one or two shots Red faction VehiclesThe red factions Vehicles are mostly civilian cars, SUVs or trucks which have been reinforced and maybe with a gun or two strapped on. The red factions emphasize is on speed and guerilla warfare, so they don't need giant vehicles, though they may use mining walkers Marauders"You Outlanders think us beneath you, and your mistake grants us power!"http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110109045240/redfaction/images/thumb/a/a4/MaurderFlag.png/300px-MaurderFlag.pngThe Marauders are a reclusive and often bloody faction descended from displaced scientists of the Ultor Corporation, although none but the Marauders know this. Marauders developed their own style of dress which was crude, savage and frightening in order to deceive and scare their enemies. They often wear gas-masks and are reputed to wear human bone. Marauder WeaponsThe Gutter: The Gutter is a halberd - that is to say, a weapon with the length of a spear but with a head shaped like an axe. While the Gutter is a powerful weapon, it is very slow. Important to the use of the Gutter is to start the swing early so as not to leave yourself open to enemy fire. The Spiker: The spiker is a weapon akin to a semi-automatic rifle and is used by the Marauders. It has a quad bayonet at the front for melee and fires hard-hitting lethal long-range spikes with formidable accuracy. It also has a large magazine and overall ammo and even though it is a long range weapon, it can be fired very quickly, though much more inaccuratly, if needed. The Marauder Shotgun: The shotgun used by the reclusive Marauders is an adapted version of the old Ultor Corporation UAS-10 Shotgun. Although outdated, it still packed a significant punch at short-range and the home-made bayonet also made it a formidable threat in close quarters. Marauder VehiclesJetter: The Jetter is a buggy with one seat and a turret which is often seen in the open wastelands of the Badlands.Raider: The Raider has a platform-like base with three seats, two of which have turrets and is often seen in the open wastelands of the Badlands.Punisher :The Punisher is a Marauder Heavy Walker.Chomper :The Chomper is a fast dune buggy with two seats, a massive rear spoiler and which often has either two mounted machine guns or two Marauder Harpoon Turrets. Stomper:The Stomper is a Marauder truck with space for three and a machine gun turret on the back Marauder ranks:Patriach/Matriach: The leader of the maraudersWar cheiften: One of the highest ranks, usually well into their 40's, though still capable of smashing anyone who they don't likes head in. Those who compose this rank have killed many opponents, and are hailed as herosCheiften: Many of those who compose this rank have killed many opponents, and are often hailed as heros. Raider: Seasoned veterens, the Raiders steal, pillage and burn.Scavenger: Has more experience than the Ravager, but they are still low. Usually into their twentiesRavager: The least experienced, these are usually late teenagers who are trying to prove themselves. ULTORThe Ultor Corporation, named after the ancient Roman temple devoted to the Roman god Mars, was the body in complete control of governance and industry on Mars prior to the First Martian Revolution when they were overthrown by the Red Faction insurgency and the Earth Defense Force. While Ultor had interests in nanotechnology and weapon manfacturing, they were primarily a mining company; this can bee seen in their logo, a stylised continuous mining machine blade wheel.Their rule was an infamous chapter in the history of human settlement on the red planet, marked by the virtual enslavement of their workforce and free run to characters such as their insidious head scientist, Axel Capek. THE NANO FORGENo one but the marauders knows the location of this yet, in fact, many don't even know it exits. The marauders know it's location, but for refuse to use it, wishing only to protect it's secret. When it is found, it may be used to create the Nano Rifle THE NANO RIFLEThe Nano Rifle, created by the Nano Forge will disintegrate solid matter, like a wall, in seconds. The nanites will get to work and eat through almost anything in second, although it is not very useful against organic matter. Because of the unstability of the rounds, a clip may carry only five shots at a time, and it is generally not advised to carry more than three or four clips. Only the highest in any faction will be permitted to use it, but only once the Nano Forge is found. Walkers:Walkers are usually found in the field or near mining or construction sites, made for these purposes. Though a combat walker was made for the EDFThe Light Walker: The light walker is the fastest and most common walker of the three. It is equipped with jump jets for short air travel. Its weapons are its two arms equipped with claws. The heavy walker; The heavy walker is the rarest of the walkers but the strongest of them all in terms of durability and smashing power. Its only weapons are two large arms that are used for swiping and swinging at buildings, cars, and people Character Sheet:Faction: red faction, EDF, Marauders or CivilianName: This is obvious. Keep it realistic.Rank: take a long, wild guess at what this means (For the EDF, put type after rank, remember that certain types may only be used by certain ranks)Age: Be reasonable and take your characters Rank into account when determining your characters age. There are no Captains of the EDF or Leaders of the red faction who are 18 years old and its also unlikely that there are any very low ranking people at age 50.Height: ObviousWeight: Obvious, but be realistic, no one is 40 and 4 stoneAppearance: A brief description of hair style and colour, any facial hair and appearnace in general. Strengths: This is what your character is good at - their skills, talents, and strong traits.Weaknesses: This is what your character is bad at - their flaws, problems, and weak traits.Weapons: What your characters weapons areBio: Your characters bio, duh Rules:1: Do not change the facts to suit yourself2: Guerrillas are outnumbered, they will NOT have an army of men3: Act like your character should. No marauder is going to turn on his allies, an EDF isn't about to go goody goody and a red faction member isn't going to start shooting civilians4: If you blow a building up, you should be reasonable. No 'I plant one bomb and the building is destroyed' crap (unless that bomb is a singularity bomb, in which case small to medium buildings will be destroyed in one bomb)5: Marauders may not utilise the Nano rifle6: red faction or EDF cannot magically know where the nano forge is7: Be reasonable. You aren't going to be carrying a spare 10 thermobaric rockets in your backpack8: You may not dictate what happens to other players characters, they must choose whether that sniper shot hits them...but the other player must be reasonable as well, eventually your character will be hurt. They don't have to die if you don't want them to, but at least let them be hurt from time to time if someone shoots an volley of bullets at them, because that happens in war.9: Select your weapons from your factions armoury, you may only have 4, you may take other weapons from your enemies in the field10: OOC may be used in the rp it's self, but if your going on a rant about something or making a wall of text OOC, post it in the OOC theard Edited May 5, 2012 by Brutii

TheBestIdiot122
It's 2:00 AM here, this probably isn't going to be the best. Especially the bio, I will more then likely edit it when I wake up. Faction: Red Faction Name: Jacob Walker Rank: Commander Age: 55 Height: 5'9 Weight: 10st.10lb (150 pounds, I think, if my math doesn't fail me.) Appearance: A simple hair style, with a rough beard, green eyes, average build. Strengths: As for his experience, his skills with guns is a lot more experienced then others, and his experience on the battlefield and knowing the lands, make his tactics and strategy unmatched. Weaknesses: Generally, being old made him a bit slower and a little more brittle, but can still hold his ground. Weapons: Sledgehammer, Pistol, Assault Rifle, Remote Charge. Bio: Jacob was originally born on Earth, in August 11th, 2065, in Olympia, Washington. His father worked in the coal mines in the over population Earth, while his mother was a nurse at the local hospital. As his father had always worked the coal mines, he had been moved to Mars, to start the digging there for the precious resources that Earth desperately needed. His family was moved to the Ultor mines for the miners, where he and his family stayed at a barracks, with another family. While on Mars, his father now worked almost 20 hours a day, and his mother was so busy at the hospital, helping the injured miners in daily infections from the plague. Jacob pretty much grew up on his own. He would often play with the other child in the barracks, She, like him, had a father who worked the mines. Her name was Pepper Kimball. She and him would never be separated, they played together, ate together, and worked together. Jacobs life would turn into a living nightmare when he turned 10, 2075. The First Martian Revolution had begun, his dad had joined the Red Faction militia to fight the evil doings of the Ultor Corporation. Soon after, his father got the plague, and died. Jacob looked up to the men with great respect. However, Jacob was only 10, and couldn't fight in the war. He wasn't angered by it, more of disappointed. He couldn't show his true values until later in the war. As the war continued, Ultor was desperate. They started to take children away, Jacob was never take, due to his age and that he could work, not in the mines but in general places. As the war came to a close, the EDF built the Terraforming devices, so that the people could breath on the surface. About 8 years later, in 2083. Jacob joined the EDF. He could finally prove himself of his worth, and he did. He became one of the more better known soldiers, he however, was wasting his talents on guard duty. About 30 years later, in 2105, Jacob was a well known and respected EDF member, he was known for his imminence skill with a Pistol, which even the Officers questioned on how good he was. However, Jacob saw though the EDF corruption. He knew they were killing miners, and he promptly left the EDF. Jacob contacted the Red Faction leaders, they thought of him as an asset being a former solider, and soon after, Jacob quickly rose through the ranks. Jacob had shown that even in the most intense situations, he could keep calm and give clear, and direct orders. However, Jacob hasn't seen any real war, only bits and pieces of fighting around. In one situation, his raid of men and women were pinned down by an overwhelming force of Marauders, on they're evening drive around the sector. He had easily thought of a plan in his head, and it worked perfectly. Only two people were wounded, and the Marauders suffered many casualties. Jacob, was now a respected War Hero. Now, with the rise of the Second Martian Revolution, Jacob was now a Commander, with years of experience on his belt. Ready for anything the EDF might throw at him. Now, with the rise of the Second Martian Revolution, Jacob was now a Commander, with years of experience on his belt. Ready for anything the EDF might throw at him. I've got good news and bad news First, the good news: Your math hasn't failed you and you're sheet is very good The bad news: I should really have said all this in the introduction, so this is my fault really, but there was no breathable atmosphere on mars during the first martian revolution, so everyone was in mine tunnels underground, thus there was no houses, just the barracks, and ultor had 8 men in a room. The sectors were named after the first martian revolutionChildren probably would have been taken for Capeks cruel experiments once they arrive, because they were no use in the mines. Then it comes to the red faction it's self. It deformed after Ultor was forced out for a long time, before being reformed at a later date (probably around the year 2100) The mines rarely collapsed, being very well built. There was something much, much worse... the plague was the problem. No cure (at least no cure available to the miners, strangely guards never seemed to get infected, odd huh?) it mutated people into creepy alien looking things. There were no safe houses, because the guards were just ordered to shoot everyone in red they could see It all looks good, though, aside from these minor issues (which is in a way my fault, as I should have mentioned the first martian revolution in greater detail) Sorry, I must sound like a real git  One bad ass guy though, holding off a large force of marauders Edited May 5, 2012 by Brutii

All EDF are tasked with the destruction of the Red faction, no one Major, but almost the whole EDF presence on mars, remove the part about him being tasked with their destruction, because no major would be solely tasked, leave the rebellious fools part though, I like that Edited May 5, 2012 by Brutii
