Creation Kit Privacy Concern

Recommended Posts

I recently noticed that our Windows user names and computer names are being written, in plain text, into compiled scripts (PEX files). They remain in plain text when the PEX files are loaded into a BSA. This is alarming considering either a user name or a computer name could indicate a modder's real name, location, place of work, etc. Has anyone else seen this? Can anyone else confirm this? Below are some screenshots.

thats not good.

Just thinking of a possible scenarios.

A employee from bioware enjoys skyrim and mods extensively for it. Its suddenly revealed that not only is he playing a competitors product regularly but he is also using a bioware supplied computer to mod and play the game.

or a evangelical church pastor that is publicly anti homosexual/anti porn etc

uploads a hot guys with big boners mod he he

(disclaimer -please note I just made these scenarios up... to my knowledge this has not happened)

Id be more concerned with the irrational angry posts that occasionally get onto mods on here and more commonly on the steam workshop. Any number of those types could try to take advantage of this too locate any mod author they wish IRL and depending on their personal opinion of the author and his/her mods that may result in some very hazardous encounters. Big example being some of the few female modders that have allowed people to see them via avatar or profile pics could easily find themselves stalked IRL this way.
