Crimsonpaladin Posted May 5, 2012 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Okay, so I have started building a huge house that is uses JonSatriani's Tileset and (since I am probably gonna restart) maybe Speckled Guars Tel Valus plugin. I was thinking of adding a secret passage(which I have no clue how to do) that leads to an enormous underground cavern that I would put a full blown Telvanni Tower into. http://photobucket.com/Crimsonshouse Just a preview of what I have done so far, again I will probably be completely redoing it( because I originally did not intend to make it distributable so i placed it badly and used generic names like MyHouse and MyBasement haha). Anyways, I've got most of the Dungeon building(minus an creature adding) but I have no scripting talent at all. So I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to help me with scripting a quest to earn entrance to this house? The quest would be Morrowind style, meaning that you would have no map markers, but there would be journal entries and diologue that leads you to the quests objective( Yes, you would need to pay attention while playing it! haha) Besides, it makes no sense to me how when an NPC tells you to SEARCH for a ruin or an item that you automatically know where it is. I was thinking that to get the quest you would need to ask about rumors( or hear it on the street like with Knights of the Nine ), then that would bring up another topic about this house( don't know what I'm gonna name it yet, sorry) which would lead you to the houses location. The topics would lead you to the house, which would have a robed dunmer(doing something to imply that he was sick) oustide who would ask you to aid him by destroying a lich, who used to be his companion but went mad and cursed him after becoming a lich. The player would be guided( without map markers) to a Tomb where the lich has enslaved dozens of corpses and there are other adventurer(s) seeking to help the sickly Dunmer( so you would be able to team up with them for the remainder of the quest). Once you reach the lich he would surprisingly be accompinied by several other liches( to make the battle interesting) the room where you would fight them would have multitudes of corners and traps( which you could use to help win the battle, and I will be figuring out how to do soon haha). Once you win, you would recieve a journal entry telling you that you have completed the dunmers errand and that you should tell him. If you loot the corpses then you would find a note on the lich( who used to be the sickly dunmers companion) telling of a secret passage and of how he fell into madness. Once the player reaches the Dunmer he finds that he has died while he was gone, and when you check his body you will find another note and a key to the house. The note would have his perspective of his friends descent into madness. I don't know how hard all this would be to script, but I would imagine that it wouldn't be easy and that it would be very time-consuming. But, if anyone would be willing to help I would be very grateful, if anyone is interested then just post a comment or message me. Lanceor Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 What you've written there sounds like almost all of the information would be in the form of NPC conversations backed up by journal updates - the only scripting needed would be a setstage command when particular conversation topics are spoken. It should be quite doable for a first timer (as that's what I did for my first mod :biggrin: ). If you want to give it a shot, start by creating a quest and writing the journal entries. That will give you a framework on what will trigger each stage of the quest.
