Most importantly, will I even still be alive when it is finally released? Sure, it's nice to get 30% off at most restaurants. But I'd rather be young enough to know I've got a decent chance of seeing this game come out.

We can always feel comfort in knowing that our children and grandchildren should still be around to see TES 6 and Fallout 5. Hope the grandkids can experience at least part of the Golden Age of Modding.

I need to latch on to SacredKnight's optimism that the single-player experience will not be abandoned. Long live the first person, open world, non-linear, RPG-shooters!

I don't know why anyone would have that kind of pessimism to begin with. There's nothing in their history that says they're going to stop doing single player. They, in fact, pride themselves on it. :)

It is not always the craftsmen on the factory floor making the decisions. If the suits at company A sees the huge profits company B is raking in through a continuous revenue model then sometimes the merchandise line drastically changes in search of the bigger bucks.

Pessimism is always possible when you realize that war never changes. Wait... wrong game. Okay, when you realize that old age and treachery triumphs over youth and optimism every time. No, that still is not quite it. How about "no matter how full you feel there is always room for pessimism".

Well, I'd take heart that they got Lynda Carter above in that vid I posted to advocate single player games. She's married to the CEO of Zenimax himself. So it gives an encouraging message about what some higher ups are thinking.

Besides, they're not EA, trying to scrounge by with the piece of crap single games they have. This is Bethesda, who is like Rockstar and Nintendo, and can sell 10, 15, 20 million (and more) copies of a single player game. No one else does it consistently, except these three. They have nothing to worry about.
