Roof Doors?

If there is a way to manipulate a vanilla doors rotation via console commands to do this i would love to know how!

A set of doors to make a "roof hatch" with. Essentially a door that would lay flat on the ground and open up much like a storm cellar. Im making a loading dock and want a crane to remove objects through the roof but without a door its just a hole in the roof and immersion breaking.

Any help appreciated!

I can't remember where this is exactly, I think " Contraptions Workshop ". There is a door set in the options, it has a representation as a circular horizontal iris type, this might be under Traps. It has a bunch of options, but I don't know for sure what it can do. I have recently used a mod called, Overpass, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/30333 This mod uses, In floor doors. It has 28 pictures of the mod, 4 of which show the doors. I'm sure it is a Vanilla asset. You can see the pics and determine if they can help you.

I am familiar with those circular "hatches" and was considering them as a last resort. (size is a bit smaller than i wanted as well) I was thinking more along the lines of a large warehouse door but re angled to be flush against the floor. I know there were ways to change the rotation (prior to place everywhere mod) via console commands but i end up going mad trying to understand the method.

I just looked at a video that showed how to change a players size using ( player.setscale ) , I didn't see anything else related. Make a save point, Build a circular door in workbench mode, and hit tilde key for console, highlight the object so it's item ID pops up, then try setscale ( any number from 2 to 10 and hit enter. Worst case you start from that save, and do something else. Default size in setscale is 1.

You can also use Place Everywhere to change the size of the roof door to scale it to your needs. It's a lot easier than manually using setscale.

I have Place Everywhere installed, and have never been successful in using it. Has anyone ever given better instructions than what's on its download page?

Not sure if you tried this, but try hovering your mouse OVER the object, but don't actually select it. Then you should be able to use the size and position controls on it. The instructions are definitely hard to follow.

No I hadn't tried that. I started a new play through the other day, and will give that a try. Thanks.

I know you asked about vanilla doors, but Castle in the Sky includes a pre-built roof hatch. Settlement Objects Expansion Pack also includes some iris style roof doors. There may be others, but those are the ones I have actually used.

You can also select the vanilla door you want to position in the console, then use modpos xyz ### to change it's position or modangle xyz ### to change it's angle. Only do X,Y, or Z one at a time. You can also do setpos or setangle. Use setscale ### (percentage values as decimal, so 1 is 100%, and the standard size) for size adjustment. Be aware that setscale seems to not always scale the collision properly.

For Place Anywhere all adjustments are done while in build mode, but with the object only highlighted, not 'grabbed'. Changing angles, however, doesn't really work that great, it tends to happen too fast to get it exact. Use modangle or setangle for that if you have to. Again, changing the scale seems to not always scale the collision properly.
