Resolution problem using mods (Bugged Resolution)

Hello everyone, I'm in need of some assistance with some bug with my resolution. I'm playing Skyrim SE on a TV, which the native resolution is 1360x768 but then auto switch to 1920x1080 as soon as I load the game (any game), the problem that has arrised is that now whenever I start SSE the 1920x1080 reso causes screen bug as you can see in the picture below:

then if I change the resolution back in the ini with my native reso it fixes it:

Anyone got an idea? That would be really appreciated! Otherwise I'm testing it all and everything seems to be working flawlessly.

Out of curiosity, are you using DSR? I had that with DSR and my PC monitor until I fiddled with the full screen and windowed settings in the INI files.

Hey thx for the reply! No I'm not using DSR (It hasn't been ported yet, right?) and I've tried messing with the full screen/borderless in the ini but the only thing I've achieved is to get everything too much zoomed in with these settings.

Hmm - but the result is exactly the same as I got with DSR.

DSR is the NVidia Dynamic Super Resolution available in the NVidia Control Panel. Open the panel and just check if it is on or off for SkyrimSE?

If it is on for the game try switching it off.

The other thing might be the G-Sync settings for Nvidia. I assume the TV is not G-Sync compatible, but if NVidia Control Panel thinks you are outputting to a G-Sync monitor for the game, it might cause it to try and scale on the fly.

Other than that, I'd be stumped.

Good luck!

Oh wow I didn't know about this setting I though you were referring to the Dual Sheath Redux mod. I've took a look inside the nvidia control panel and DSR was on for the global setting, but doesn't exist under Skyrim Se, turning it off didn't work but in the resolution screen of nvidia I've manully changed my resolution to 1080p 1080x1920 and now my desktop is messed up but it works for skyrim, oh well! Thx a bunch good sir Edited by Kasabian7

That's the one. My bad - it does not exist under the Program tab - it is only in the Global setting.

If you are outputting to a TV, but have a local display for your computer, how about set up 2 screens in Windows and switch output when needed?

However, I confess I always have issues with screens and resolutions - I get thoroughly confused over Windows Desktop 1 and Desktop 2 stuff... :geek:

Glad things are moving on for you!

undoubtably a necrothread but one massive issue is that you possibly ran the default launcher by accident so the game generated a 2nd skyrimprefs.ini in the install folder for the game, while also reading the modified skyrimprefs.ini through the mygames substructure.
I found one under C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition

you may end up seeing another Skyrim folder within this system and that's where it'd be, just go ahead and delete it.

It appears that a further issue is that in a skyrimprefs.ini is that the resolution are reading Height before Width, so swapping them may also fix an issue.

Aaand now I'll add my own 2 cents.

In case you've tried everything but part of the game's window is still cut off, try this:

- right-click on the desktop and select "display settings";

- check if you have something different than 100% under "change the size of text, apps and other items".

If you do:

- go to the game's folder ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition );

- right-click on "SkyrimSE.exe";

- select the "compatibility" tab;

- near the bottom, click on "change high DPI settings";

- check "override high DPI scaling behavior. scaling performed by:" and make sure the selected value is "application";

- click "ok" and then "ok" again.

Enjoy.

(If you don't... I have no idea, sorry.)

im having this same problem

edit: i fixed it by doing this:

The Skyrim .ini Tweak:
Open ../Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Skyrim.ini
Add these lines under [display]:
iSize W=(desired resolution X)
iSize H=(desired resolution Y)
Save and launch Skyrim.
