Bernt
Tried multiplayer once - sort of............ :whistling: Hooked up my computer to a friends for a friendly game of Command and Conquer - Tiberian Sun. In 10 minutes I had not even finished building my first base and he just came out of nowhere wiping me off the map :wallbash:First, last and only time I've played against a human opponent. I'm a sore loser  Besides - I like to be able to load up a game and play 10 minutes here and maybe 3 hours the day after tomorrow. To me Fallout has been on a downhill slope ever since the first couple of games - though I actually liked Tactics. I like the real time pace that came with 3. But I DO miss a lot of the storytelling going on in 1 and 2 - though Vegas undeniably (to me at least) got pretty close. Just a bit of rambling from this oldtimer
zowrath
I've been following the development of MMOs for almost 20 years and things have changed. One thing to keep in mind here is that big companies knows exactly what they are doing based on marketing research of what a) the current majority of online gamers want and b) prediction of how long this trend will last. Gaming has generations just like age does, for a long time challenge-based gaming was what everyone wanted but that time has long gone and today the generational shift is already complete and the complete casual gamer is the new generation. These generations are not separated by age, doesn't matter if you're 16 or 60. If you look at other games, what does this generation of gamers want? Well, instant gratification and able to spend out of pocket on vanity items and whatnot that has to be new and shiny on at least a bi-weekly basis. If they do not get that they will go to shop, and play, on another title. In Elder Scrolls Online not so long ago there was a Daedric dress-up contest and people bought vanity items like their life depended on it, for their characters to look good, so they could win the competition... This is what's real today, and this is what companies are marketing and planning towards. Casuals just want to kick their shoes of and feel like Gods for as long as they are connected, and "look good" doing so. We've already seen a taste of that in Fallout 4, where you basically went from a frozen vaultsicle to community leader with umpteenth degrees in sciences as you could do almost anything either right off the bat or just after a day or two of playing the game. Also, requests and availability of OP mods are just through the roof. Where's the lore, and people wanting it? Compared to the masses, very few want that as it is slow, boring and it has no bling to it. Sad, but true. However, as said, this is generational and just like it has shifted now it will shift again to something else in the future though I would not hold my breath for the first decade at least. I played ESO for a bit and it was not my cup of tea, I've been with Elder Scrolls since Arena back in the day always faithful. ESO has no feel to it, and I expect when the initial "awe" of Fallout 76 subsides the same will be true for that incarnation. One thing is for sure, I'm not going to even try it out for at least a year has passed like I did with ESO, if ever.
dragonslayer2k12
ESO argonians is a thing maybe that was the source of some of those argonian speculation rumors about the next ES game? I really hate watching 2000 people cast spells at the same time over and over again in those ESO videos I find on youtube. Playing that game must be worse than just looking at it. Or a guild doing Dolmen runs... swooping across and spells and whatnot flying. It just breaks the mood completely. I suspect Fallout 76 will be no different, the wasteland feel will be totally gone. dragonslayer2k12
The supermutants are just recycled from fallout 4 they look completely out of place in the presentation last night. They should have just left them out and let the new weirdo monsters take their place in the game world. I don't like the idea of the nukes still being around and not even story related just get to the nuke codes first. The whole thing looks pointless from the perspective of playing fallout 4. Build destroy build destroy sounds too much like and just as boring as reality which is why we play games in the first place to get away from the daily grind of crap for a few hours to be entertained. I guess it could be thought of this way, they have to make at least one game like this to cash in on the PUBG garbage before it is done and goes away. This game is coming out in the final quarter of this year so this looks good for their financials or bad depending on how this goes. Wether or not they make money from it may not be as important as don't miss the chance to do it asap and then move on to the other games they might make. Highlord83
Doesn't matter if there's modding. Fallout 76, like every open-world survival game, is going to be nothing but griefing 24/7. It may start out fine, but sooner rather than later we'll have gun towers covering spawn points, roving groups of assholes, and near constant nukes flying. We know this because the exact same thing (sans nukes) happens in Rust and Ark. Unless you're playing on a private server, you're screwed. Really, I look forward to making small progress only to have it ruined by LongDong420, 666DeAtHReApEr666, and David_Duke1488. Be prepared for endless "lul git gud scrub" various scenarios where the a**hole/idiots speak of sexual encounters with your family members, and fire being used to write racial slurs on hillsides. Think about it, even on a private server BGS is still hosting all the data. That means 3rd party mods won't work most likely, but BGS will have all the CC mods your heart can desire. Private server means, at least to me, one that you run yourself. Maybe Bethesda has a different definition, though. And BGS isn't "hosting all the data" - you have a local copy of everything on your computer / console. Edited June 11, 2018 by Reneer
