jones177
Hi Stutter can be a lot of things. With this game I have had driver stutter. My GTX 1080 was unplayable with driver stutter for almost 6 months after the game came out. This was with a i7 2600k & a P67 motherboard. The game ran flawlessly at 1440 on my i7 6700k rig with a GTX 980 ti & Z170 motherboard. I have read that the game will stutter with G-SYNC on. Also G-SYNC only works on fullscreen(check to see if indicator turns red). Try with it off if you haven't already. On Skyrim LE I could limit stutter using(or not) the ENB execute file(enbhost.exe). In Skyrim SE, ENB does not use an execute file so I don't know how effective ENB/ENBoost will be in controlling stutter. Later
Moraelin
By the way, do you have DSR turned on in your NVidia drivers. That's one thing that may or may not cause that problem, depending on whether the drivers think you're actually running in DSR mode. Try turning DSR completely off and see what happens. wfandrews
Jones, my G-SYNC is on; did not realize that could cause stutter. The only ENB I have used with SSE is Nyclix's ENB Reshade which ran very well with no stutter using the ENB. The stutter problem with SSE just started when I got 2560 X 1440 resolution working. I am thinking that this is probably a hardware problem. Moraelin, I tried oldrim with DSR turned off and it did seem to run smoother, especially in Whiterun where I have always had a bit of a fps drop. This is understandable as I use Breezehome Fully Upgradeable which includes Aplestormy's TAVE Whiterun, the finest enhancement mod I have ever found. That plus a couple mods which add more npc's and Simply Bigger Trees puts quite a load on ones machine.
sopmac45
Hi A standard 1440 monitor is 2560 X 1440 it has the same aspect ratio as a 1920 X 1080, 16:9. Even 4k(3840X2160) monitors have the same aspect ratio as a standard 1080 monitor. A standard wide screen monitor has an aspect ratio of 21:9. Morrowind, Skyrim SE/LE & Fallout 4 are the only non DosBox games I have to type in the resolution at 21:9. This game, Skyrim LE & Fallout 4 all have issues on Windows 7 with non standard monitors. To get around this I get the monitor drives from the manufacturers website. So far on Windows 10 I have had no issue but I still use the monitor drivers. This makes me angry for the simple reason that old titles like Fallout 3 & Oblivion don't have these issues. For anyone that has a GTX 1060 6gb or better get a 1440 monitor. Once you have one it is hard to playing with less resolution. I also have the game on a computer with a 4k monitor. The difference between 1440 & 4k is minimal. 1440 is the sweet spot. Later I agree. I do have a Viewsonic Monitor 165Hz and I play my game on 2560x1440 and I cannot go back to 1080. It looks simply ugly. My recommendation to the OP is to buy this type of monitors ( brand depends on your personal choice ) with 165 Hz capability so if you are playing other games, you will see how smooth they run above 60 fps. However, for SkyrimSE, you won't be able to go above 60 but still you will have that capability for other games like Fallout 4 and other games out there and the new upcoming ones.
