Muennin
I'm unclear as to what exactly constitutes a "classic" rock band. This label seems a fluid one at best, seeing as how what we listen to today may in fact become "classic" tomorrow...take Nirvana as an example, or any other semi-recent band that redifined popular music in their given era. My vote goes for: 1. Rush2. Yes3. Genesis Understanding that progressive rock may not meet the popular standard of "classic". So very confusing...
patd1287
Classic Rock is a very definable genre....most of you guys are on track: Zeeplin, The Who, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, they list goes on and on.....this is referred to as classic rock-back in the day when rock was rock, not the junk we have today...and Nirvana...I'm not saying i don't like them...but they were far too recent to be reffered to as "classics"---and were apart of a musical time known as the "Grunge" Era. So, they were essentially not "Rock"
Muennin
So saith thee, patd, no disrespect intended. But, while I have never endorsed a chordal-following band, such as Nirvana, I was simply making a point. It seems to me as if my query fell on deaf ears. I could most easily plug in 260 eighth notes per stave, yet that doesn't improve the melodic sophistication of my trio. So I will ask yet again, what is the definition of classic rock? I believe this may well lie in an explanation which brings one to an earlier and much cherished time in one's youth...and thus subject to change as history proceeds... ;) It seems that "Classic" is in the mind of the beholder. ;)
