Milk101
Is the categorized favorites menu the best "favorite menu" mod out there? Or is there another competitor for the position?
Crosstieger
SkyUI is the only thing I would ever need. It supports every items added by mods, has some neat sorting system that allows you to setup a sort of load-out and it supports hotkeys.
tomomi1922
I think, like FNIS, SkyUI seems to dominate. There used to be several out there competing back in the old days. But now it seems SkyUI is the gold standard. People do not seem to challenge it. And in a way it is good because it is universal (like USB port). Every mod can count on SkyUI's MCM to put a menu to. No longer author has to learn and write for 3-4 different UI mods. There is this UIExtension framework just out on Skyrim SE not too long ago. I downloaded it for AddItem Menu mod. It has potential, but I don't think people bother to compete with SkyUI. Usually, competition is good. It keeps the price low, drives innovation, and benefits consumers. But mods in Skyrim makes no money (and we pay a good price of Free). Innovation wise, I think modders see the benefits in using existing SkyUI as a framework to build upon it, instead of reinventing the wheel. In this aspect, we as consumers benefit. Why do we want 5 creators spending their precious time and energy on 1 thing while they can make 5 different things? Chances are we can use at least 2-3 of those mods.SkyUI has a robust (or not so robust) equipment management system beyond that simple Favorite menu. Yes, I have 8 outfits, F1-F8 (I moved Quick save to F9). On top of that I have 1-0 to map individual weapons and spells. I wish the setup is a bit easier. It takes rather long to setup all 8 outfits. But it is the only thing we got. It functions quite nicely, so I am not complaining, especially at the price of Free.
