Just fresh installed 270+ mods with Vortex and everything worked first try!

Veteran mod user here. Haven't played FO4 for over a year, decided I wanted to do another playthrough. Deleted all my old mods cache, signed up for a Nexus Premium account for the sweet sweet download speeds and started fresh. Downloaded a s#*! ton of mods all at once, installed them as they downloaded and enabled everything I wanted. Given that I've modded before I knew which things weren't compatible but for the most part it was just download everything and let Vortex handle the rest. I resolved the dependencies and conflicts in Vortex, told it to sort my esp's and started up Fallout expecting a CTD before seeing that "Please Stand by" screen since I literally hadn't done anything manually. Not only did I make it to the main menu without a crash but I started a new game and was configuring my character with LooksMenu!

Granted, yeah, there were a few things I needed to fix after that first startup and a few tweaks I needed to do (merged patch, fix levelled lists, etc). But I honestly could not believe how well Vortex worked! Fantastic job to Tannin and the team! I'm so impressed.

Same thing here but only with 85 mods. I have been playing during 40 hours and only a couple of CTD's that are related to WOTC ( War of the Commonwealth ) which is a known mod to cause crashes. To avoid this, I need to fast travel to places free of spawns and problem resolved. And the thing is that I setup this mod to spawn above default, so I have more spawns that I should but that is the way I like to play my game and I am ok if I crash again. Games and mod are not perfect anyway.

Did not have the need to setup dependencies or groups at all. Just installed/enabled mods and setup rules in the MODS tab, let Vortex to auto-sort my PLUGINS and started to play my game. The only thing I have done outside that is to create a conflict patch via FO4Edit ( just one for now ) to resolve an issue with Raider Overhaul mod. Other than that, everything is working fine.

Got a question for you, when I was creating my patch last night, I saw that Weaponsmith mod is conflicting with others. Checked the Level List and there are some records that probably needed to be fixed. Have you created a patch for this mod before or should I leave it the way it is ? Those records in red are related to weapons conflicting with a couple of mods. Any opinion ?

Thanks ...

A mod showing up in red in FO4Edit doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem, it just means that the record in red is being overwritten by another mod lower in your load order. If the thing overwriting it isn't a Weaponsmith Patch, Merge Patch or something that makes sense to be overwriting it you may need to alter your load order a bit.

Thanks theFisher86 …. I do understand that red records not necessarily are bad. I have a lot in red ( from other plugins ) and I left them the way they are but I created the patch for Weaponsmith already and everything is working fine.

Thanks a lot …

I used NMM from the time it was released, have loved it. I got Skyrim VR and was struggling to get my mods to work and saw the recommendation to use Vortex. I did and it's absolutely amazing. Easy, simple, incredibly fast.

I held off buying Skyrim VR this long specifically because I was dreading finding, downloading and installing and then testing all the mods I like to play with. VR had a bit of a different list but is still a ton of mods. I got them all in and setup and working in like 2 hours, tops, which included testing them (and finding alternate start didn't work and Ordinator needed a patch). Last time I reinstalled Skyrim it took me all day and then having to fiddle with stuff the next day.

Intuitive and efficient. I know it's still early but I really, really like where it's going.

Overall I've found Vortex to be pretty solid. I managed to break it once by doing a batch remove all of over 300 mods at once so it seems like it might get things mixed up if you try that with too many mods all at once. When I did that, I had about 15-20 mystery mods that still showed up as installed in the dashboard even though both my download directory and my mods directory were completely empty. I haven't tried doing that again, had to actually delete that whole profile to recover.
