3D modeling tools?

Recommended Posts

i want to make a player home mod. but my problem is that i need a 3D modeling tool specifically for FNV. and preferably compatible with photoshop. i tried Nifscope but it won't auto-detect FNV. and the only NIF files i am able to open is the ones of other non-vanilla mods i downloaded. does anyone know of one that i can use?

arent the FNV models wrapped up inside the new vegas bsa or esm or something. those of course wont "auto-detect" anything unless it's unpacked.

but doesnt the GECK allow you to do that? im not sure if that does or not.

not sure if thats any help

Well first you seperate game files from project files. This is because project files are messy an often the project doesn't make it into the game anyway. I only unpack what I need from the .BSA at the time I need it. Instead of upacking the whole thing. I'll unpack it to the desktop to either look at or drop in the fake data folder. On the desktop there is a shortcut that goes to the fake data folder which speeds that up. C:/Data is the folder an nifscope an blender both are set up to look for textures there. I also drop backup copies an junk into that folder.

There is also a shortcut to the current projects folder I created in the blender directory. This is a folder that is easy to get to from the blender interface. The start menu has a pinned shortcut to a folder named tools. Inside there are folders for each game so that I can get to each games toolset thru one link. Then the actual data folders for each game are also pinned to the start menu as FO3 Data, FNV Data, or TES Data. The tools that are used on all games are just pinned to the start menu. It takes a while to set it up, but you should set it up however you like.
