dubiousintent
PM a moderator (such as Wasteland Assassin) and describe what you want to do. If your mod requires Lonesome Road DLC, then your derivative model of that bowie knife from that ESM should be legal. But the moderators are the ones who have to be satisfied, so start with them. -Dubious-
EPDGaffney
If you don't use the bowie knife model from the ESM, then you can just make a new bowie knife and add it to the base game with no problems. If you're planning on using either the model or textures from the DLC, then just direct your bowie knife to the correct folder for the model or textures, and when you upload your mod, people that don't have the DLC won't have the files they need and won't be able to use the mod, meaning you will need to state on the mod page that Lonesome Road is required. If you don't use the model or textures, you're just making a bowie knife and the rights to that are yours, so you have no problem. As long as you don't copy one of the DLC files out of its directory and put it elsewhere, only people with the DLC will be able to access the files your mod points to, so there should be no problem there. If that doesn't quite make sense, you can't go wrong asking a moderator as Dubious suggested, so do that if you want to be sure.
