Im stuck on the lady if paranoia quest, please help

Okay i have just started another playthrough of shivering isles and for some reason in the lady of paranoia none of the npcs will speak to me at all , i go up to them and press the button to speak to them but it doesnt do anything, its likw there working like activators as it doesnt initialize the dialog box at all, and some of the npcs i need

To speak to the torture option wont come up so i can only spare them.... Bit

Most of them i cant speak to at all.... I have no idea why or how to fix it i have tried certain things but

It just doesnt work i would rather not use the console as i want to play the quest and i aldo dont know if other npcs will do that... Rhis also happens with cutter and other quest important npcs in shivering isles... Can anyone help me?? Any help will be most appreciated

Ok most of the npcs affected are the shivering isles quest important npcs... for any of the quests wherever it be the main or a side quest, this doesnt happen in tamriel. i installed lady li's loft and a couple more house mods for shivering isles such as annoicar, jagnots aquaduct house, blissful dreams house. this is all i have installed i have since removed the ones i thought might cause problems.... this is my load order >

Bear in mind that some mods in my load order are made by me... and are not released. and some are touch ups of original mods. :P

are you sure that you removed the mods you thought that they were responsible for the issue, correctly? if you only deactived the .esp 's from the load order, read this:

 

only deactivating the .esp from the load order will not fully remove the mod. to fully remove the mod, you need to actually remove all the files that came with it. to do so, its best if you see your mod download, and what it contains, search for it in your oblivion files and delete them. note: maybe there were some things replaced, like textures. if u are unsure, dont delete the files, but copy them to a safe place out of the oblivion folder, so in case things go wrong you can put them back! (i personally always back files up that are going to be overwritten in a mod installation process, so nothing can get messed up.)

 

if not, continue here:

your mods seem to be okay otherwise. except for one thing about the load order: why is oblivion.esm not at the very top? if im not wrong it should be first. anyway, try running BOSS (better oblivion sorting software) you can find it easy here on nexus. another thing you can try (most likely wont help but try anyway) load another savegames and see if you still run into the same problem.

 

oh and try disabling this:

idk what it does but try anyway.

 

another thing that comes to my mind is: load an older savegame and try starting the quest u wanted to play again, and see if the same problem occurs again.

I tried doing the quests on another save already and it didnt make a difference also i didnt just disable the mods i removed the esps altogether.... I have used boss before but i choose not to use it as i know the order to keep most things working perfectly alongside eachother and boss generally mess's it up which is rather irritating, im good at managing my load order myself just cant figure it out... My oblivions been running funny for a couple of weeks now, crashing after about half an hour non stop and freezing occasionally and even the textures and meshes are funny such as black and pink, and the missing mesh marker appears. I do archive invalidation a lot but it doesnt seem to make much of a difference, althiugh this doesnt bother me much... Just want to play the shivering isles quests, i will move the ob esm on top i dont even know why it has moved lol

Just so you know, removing the esp files for a mod often leaves a lot of resources behind (meshes, textures etc.). To properly uninstall a mod you need to remove all the assets that it installed.

 

Sometimes mod A will overwrite assets that mod B installed before mod A was installed. If you install mods using OBMM you won't get any warning. If you install manually and extract the downloaded archive to a temporary folder you can check for file overwrites before you copy and paste into your game install folder. Wrye Bash's BAIN install method will also warn you about file overwrites.

i still cant fix this problem........ i dont want to have top go through another reinstall i've already had to do it twice already .... is there anything else i can do or does anyone know what the problem may be?
