Quad i5, GeForce 570 game crash on anything but low

A pimped out grafics card and a new mother board are the traditional gifts for your 18th wedding anniversary. I was stoked to receive them and couldn't wait to use them with Skyrim.

When I run Skyrim's default video setup, it sets everything at high. "Awesome," I thought, "I've never been able to run a game on high."

Unfortunately, once loaded (if it loads), my game last for about 30 seconds before it blinks out and leaves me staring at my desktop.

I can run the game on low mode all day long.

I know it's not a CPU/GPU cooling issue, I have four fans and the PC never runs hotter than about 35C.

Does anyone have any ideas, setups, .ini edits, or places I should start looking to fix the problem?

Two web sites that have lots of useful tips:

NVidia's GeForce Skyrim Tweak guide (There are 20 pages of info here. Also a link for specific card optimization, which is a nice start.)

RookieNoob's Tweak guide

Must be your RAM. It's either faulty, or you need more/ or you need a faster variant. DDR3 RAM are the fastest and you should have 8GB RAM for optimal experience.

Woot! Apparently, the traditional mother's day gift for geeks is an upgrade to Win 7 64-bit and 8G RAM.

Ah...true love.
