Mayfly53
Hi everyone, I thought I'd finally try my hand at meshing, and chose something relatively simple to do. I was following the instructions here, and got the mesh(es) through Blender just fine, or so I thought. However, when I got to adding the textures in NifSkope, all I got was this solid block of colour:http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/5060/capturevec.png Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd be very grateful. After reading over the full guide, I may have missed the step about adding a material and UV maps. Could this be the problem? I didn't change the clothes mesh at all though, so it's UV map should be the same as the one I built my texture off. And even if it wasn't, more than one colour should show up, right? KaptTorbjorn
Missing a material property/texture association and UV map. Make sure you delete any of the imported material stuff and add a fresh one.
Mayfly53
You are correct, thank you. It was a simple fix. However, now that that is fixed, my custom mesh and texture render perfectly in NifSkope, and everything seems correct, however when I go to equip it in-game to test it, I get an instant CTD with no error message. More of an exit to desktop than a crash. It's not the armature, and it's not the vertex shaders. What else could be going wrong?
Mayfly53
Bump for luck :D Google isn't revealing anything as to why my custom mesh+texture, which now renders perfectly in NifSkope, is causing the game to quit abruptly :psyduck: If anyone can help, then please do! EDIT: I fixed the crash problem by properly deriving the _1.nif from my _0.nif. However, in game, and in the creation kit render window, the model is invisible. Everything else works just fine. Any clues? This is getting a little frustrating now but I am absolutely determined to get it :wallbash: EDIT 2: It looks like my mesh has no bone weights on it. Would that cause the whole thing to be rendered invisible? And is there some way of adding the bone weights in? Some way, that isn't by hand, because that's thousands of lines to edit. Perraine
AFAIK, though I'll admit at the outset I'm really HOPELESS at 3D modelling, but generally I believe most modders simply copy the individual NiTriShape from their custom mesh and paste it into a vanilla mesh, thereby avoiding the problem of incorrect.missing bone weighting. I believe their is a tutorial about importing meshes and pasting over a vanilla mesh (it's for weapons I think, but the info should be similar for armor)
