Nightstrom
Hello folks, I am aware that WAR has 1 handed animations but left arm moves very awkwardly and I find it unsettling. What I ask from you talented people is a simple edit to default 3rd person Iron sight animation. I want the left arm to stay put. That is all. If I had the knowledge I'd have done it myself but sadly, I don't. Hopefully it's an easy request, thanks in advance.
devinpatterson
You probably won't find an animator in the request forum to make a new animation from scratch. My suggestion is to find the closest animation replacer you can that has open permissions and post back here. That will save your potential mod author a lot of work (since you know best what you want your animation to look like).
Nightstrom
Hey, I thought using the default pistol aim animation as base was possible? The default animation shows our character as raising both arms while aiminig, I only want my character to raise his right arm. I'm not an animator but I assumed an edit to an already existing animation would be easy. https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38527?tab=files I'm leaving this (Weapon Animation Replacers - WAR) as another base. It already has a one handed aim animation but as I said, the left arm moves very awkwardly while shooting. I simply want the left arm to stay put. This pack also has a two handed aim animation, if someone can alter it so that the left arm stays put, I'd be truely grateful. Thank you for your answer. BBourbon
while there are many controversy about how VATS being utterly a stupid system, your ide wouldnt be so lore-friendly. In VATS, your left arm is being guided by your pipboy so you have some hit chances appears on the target. While you're not holding the gun with two hands, by game machanics VATS would still be viable but it shouldnt because pipboy is attached to your left forearm and your left hand wouldnt even be touching the gun. Nightstrom
You make a good point, but there are just too many examples both in this site and in the game itself that contradict the lore, so I don't think this would be a huge stretch. Besides, in the classic Fallouts using only and only one arm (while equipped with one handed weapons) was a big part of the immersion and art style (basically it was showing a gunslinger style compared to today's professional assassin style). I'm still using the animations by joefoxx and I love them, I really do, but the left arm is really bugging me.
BBourbon
I know where you're coming from on this and I am a huge gunslinger style fan myself, ask davin : )) Don't think I've never thought of a gunslinger stance, I have and concluded that it would be better off with vanilla stances for a couple of reasons. 1- As I mentioned above it's not only just not lore-friendly but also illogical for VATS reasons. 2- Would look awkward shooting while running. Vanilla stances actually very balanced in regards of stance variaty; you can have gunslinger style in 3rd person and 1st person unfocused and you can have two-handed stance focused. Of course if you want your way I'd gladly help but I'm out of it here unfortunately. I'm just sharing my input.
Nightstrom
Actually it's much better than one would expect, here are some screens: Third person IS (Zoomed in) aiming: https://pasteboard.co/HqmATWS.jpg Third person IS shooting: https://pasteboard.co/HqmBI8O.jpg Third person shooting while running https://pasteboard.co/HqmCWbL.bmp Actually I enjoy most of joefoxx's animations. The problem is stationary animations, left shoulder is bent backwards and I hate that. Causes annoying issues with pauldrons. At this point I can just be happy with third person IS animations, no need to tweak the animations for movement. Vanilla non-IS attack animations are actually one handed, but the character doesn't fully extend his arm, instead he just shoots like Terminators (remember the Terminator's one handed assault rifle animation? exactly like that). I really appreciate you sharing your opinions with me, it's always fun talking to a fellow classic Fallout fan.
BBourbon
First two pictures looks very decent, I hand you that. Third person shooting while running https://pasteboard.co/HqmCWbL.bmp But this^ one is IMHO looks silly. The character has the vibe of "Oh boy here I go hunting geckos. C'MERE YOU LITTLE DEVIL!" (: I really don't wanna look like Han Solo waveing a revolver around haha.
Nightstrom
Haha, actually it's my favorite animation out of all three, I failed to capture it at the right moment but while in motion the character actually moves that left arm in a natural and satisfying manner. Gives a sense of realism to Run & Gun play. To be frank I don't want an edit to "shooting while moving" animations, I just want to prevent weird looking left pauldrons. Here are two screenshots to show the problem. Idle: https://pasteboard.co/HqsuLJG.jpg Aiming: https://pasteboard.co
Nightstrom
Since I was unable to find a volunteer I've tried alternative methods. For the moment I'm using vanilla non-IS animations combined with joefoxx's WAR so that I can satisfy my gunslinger fantasy. As a huge classics fan I always loved their simple yet effective art style. (A pistol using U.S. soldier executing a protester) http://images-mediawiki-sites.thefullwiki.org/08/3/7/3/4141602144255222.jpg The one handed pistol stance fits the game's post apocalyptic theme very well, in my opinion. While professionals prefer the two handed grip in real life, it would look out of place on a raider in the wasteland or on a scavenger. Plus, perks that give bonuses to one handed weapons would feel weird. Anyway, in case someone ventures into this thread in the future, or you are simply like me and wanted to have a nostalgic feeling while using pistols, do these: Download WAR (Fomod or NMM version)While installing, choose gunslinger stanceGo to your Meshes/Characters/_male folder, delete 1pattack files that doesn't include "is".Download a camera mod that suits your taste, I highly recommend Dynamic Third Person CameraSet the camera similar to vanilla FO4 camera, while zoomed in, make sure that the left shoulder of character stays slightly hidden. By doing this you are hiding the potential pauldron issues. Hope applying these steps give you a slight feeling of satisfaction as well. In case you already searched for ways to rehash the feeling of the Classics but tried a band-aid solution (like I did) feel free to share! Have a good day and thanks to everyone that answered.
