Can't Edit Landscape

I want to edit the landscape but when I grab the ground it doesn't move up or down when I move my mouse.

I can still apply textures to it but I can't actually do anything other than that.

Googling the problem has yielded no solutions, if anybody here knows whats happening that would be awesome.

Sounds like you are trying to edit one of the outer cells within the 5 x 5 grid that is currently being rendered.

Which you just need to turn off the landscape editor and then shift the grid.

To know where the cell is within that 5 x 5 ,Hit "B" button to turn on grid , and pan out till you see the full 5 x 5, then center the cell you want to work on.

Painting textures will bleed into the outer cells a bit , so that may be why you can do that , but not move ground up / down.

Also make sure "Flatten" or "Soften" is not checked , just the "Show edit Radius"

If the ground was already flat , then the left mouse would do nothing with either of those checked.

Add edit : If this is a new world space you are working on , hence it starts out completely flat , and you just want to use the landscape editor instead of the height map.

It helps to drop in some land marks like tree's , radio towers , whatever.

Just temporaries to keep your bearings.

Start with something in the center at the 0,0 cell. Then place items around the border at corners , sides , depends on how big you are going to end up.

That isn't it, It doesnt matter where I edit the terrain, near the edge or not it still doesnt edit, also Flatten and Soften are unchecked.

So this is a vanilla cell then ? Tell me what world space and cell coordinate ... Then I'll check in my geck.

It may just possibly be the location.

It doesn't matter what cell it's in, vanilla or a new worldspace it just refuses to edit.

It may be the default height you set it at ... what does your world space window set up look like ?

Or second guess is something with your mouse ... can you remap that control just for test.

Also I noticed your cell view window is showing objects in the cell grid location you are in ?

Plus you are not getting the 5x5 grid of cells rendering.

I would suggest , for a test at least. Load up only the FalloutNV.esm in geck. Once it loads ... hit save and name your new .esp. Then close geck , and relaunch.

Then create a new world space .... then load that in the cell view ... then try editing that land up/down.

If this is your first time using the landscape editor ... just plan on it being practice stuff that you will throw away.

This isn't my first time using it, it just ceased to function.

I did what you said and it continues to fail.

Hmmm that is very odd. But how about last ditch effort ... try some "Height map editing" nothing drastic.

Then go back to trying the "Landscape editor"

I am stumped to know what it is ... except glitchyness with that tool , and maybe caused by an update ?

I am currently doing a lot of landscape editing myself ... but in the Fo3 version.

However some quick tests with NV and various scenario's ... nothing has made it so I can't raise/lower land. It was odd you didn't have the 5x5 cells rendering in that first video also. But your second one does.

I have Win 8.1 by the way. What are you running ?
