Can't Edit Landscape

Try XP as well. If I recall right, XP gave me the best results. But the really weird thing is that when I reset my PC, the glitch mostly disappeared, so I didn't need to do that anymore. I'm using Windows 10, and I hadn't done a clean install to 'upgrade' from 7, which led to loads of problems that I eventually decided to fix via a clean install. Somehow, that helped the GECK glitch a lot.

I don't know which .ini setting, either, but I would delete the whole file and let it reset to its defaults.

Did you try the other stuff I mentioned? I'm specifically thinking of Roy's GECK updates. Memory's hazy but I vaguely recall someone talking about landscape editing on there. If you don't have it, get it, and if you do have it, remove it, is what I'd try.

@ EPD Can you make a new world space , then load it in cell view (just pic cell 0,0)

And then see if you can move land up / down .

Don't adjust your land height when making the world space ... and just set the default water below the land height ... hence -3000 for test. Don't worry about anything else for now.

And if you load in with a black screen ... just drop something in the render window and hit F .

Then hit "H" to bring up the landscape editor.

left click with the circle "hold" then move mouse forward to drag terrain up.

Lets see if works :ermm:

Lovely. A new GECK/Win10 problem. "About 2 months ago" would coincide with the April 2018 Update (aka "1803"/"Redstone 4"). It has since by followed by the 12 June release of "KB4284835 (OS Build 17134.112)". Both have (among other things) included "protections for an additional subclass of speculative execution side channel vulnerabilities". Part of the mitigations for the "Spectre/Meltdown" vulnerabilities. These have broken a number of things in older programs. About all you can do is keep track of the patches to see whether they help or hurt and rollback to an earlier "restore point" if necessary.

This Computer World feature article tracks these updates and can help you tell which have been installed (compare it's list against your "Control Panel | Windows Updates | View Update History" list).

If anyone can confirm this "Landscape Edit" bug is connected to a particular update, I'll add it to the "Common Problems with GECK" section. Otherwise I'll keep track of it offline until we can pin down something resembling a cause.

Hi, I changed the landscape of Goodsprings around the broken house near the school.

I was able to flat it out by using the checkbox and then I was able to move it even lower or up by holding left mouse and move around (after removing the checkbox for flatting things out).

I'm on Windows 10 most recent update.

However, I also use the GECK Powerup:

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/41642/

and the optional NVSE plugin from the very same page.

I don't really have any experience with this, so I'm just going to make a couple of guesses that you're free to consider.

To be honest, it was actually also my first try on changing the landscape with that farmhouse.

But I thought a buried backdoor would look bad. XD

Even though my talents in artwork are as good as that:

So I fear that my decisions with raising ground and paint some ground differently are awful. XD

Well, I hope it's not that update, cos if I'm not mistaken, that's the one that's supposed to fix the NVSR crashing problem the FCU introduced a while back. I don't have it yet and have been wanting it for the change to NVSR. Well, maybe I don't want it after all. If I get it, I'll check for this bug.
