stebbinsd
When I cast a drain skill spell on myself, the trainer NPCs still require payment to train the skill for me. I'm not playing with the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, nor do I have any mod that purports on its face to change the way drain skill affects training. What's going on? Oblivionaddicted
I suppose your problem comes from mods since UESP stipulates your trick normally works.

Oblivionaddicted
But maybe do you have dirty mods that affect these elements. Did you disable your mods and check if the problem remains? Edited June 24, 2018 by Oblivionaddicted

Oblivionaddicted
I think you can eliminate the official DLC's from your suspects list. And I'm not a soothsayer by the way.^^ Edited June 24, 2018 by Oblivionaddicted
stebbinsd
Ok, I just went and disabled every mod I had installed except the DLCs. I STILL have this problem! Even when I drain my heavy armor skill by 100 points, Vernardo still charges me 460 gold to train my heavy armor skill from 46 to 47! This is on a vanilla installation! So clearly, a mod I previously had but disabled didn't fully go away when I disabled the mod! So it seems that my only fix right now is to completely reinstall the game. So my question now is ... what folder has my save files, so I can back them up? Oblivionaddicted
Just by curiosity what happens if you also disable the DLC's?
