JohnerX
So I followed this mod guide to overhaul Fallout 3 for my first playthrough of the game. Everything was fine until I got to the elementary school in the beginning of the game, where I started to see texture and shadow overlaps like this. Did I do something wrong? Does it have to do with me playing on the Steam GOTY version? Or because I'm using a newer version of the ENB d3d9.dll? I have no experience with Bethesda games, so I am quite clueless
M48A5
The guide you used seems to be accurate, however, you should have downloaded and installed your mod manager first. There are a few knowledgeable people that do not recommend using NMM for FO3, but do recommend using the latest FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager) The guide also makes no mention of the installed location of the game. It should never be installed in the default location of "Program Files". The UAC (Windows User Account Control) prevents any changes to the files installed there. This means you cannot use the 4GB Enabler, DarnUI, FOSE, etc. When using a mod manager, you do not need nor want the standalone Archive Invalidation file installed. Any decent mod manager already has one built in any will conflict with the standalone version, rendering it useless. You also do not need the GFWL disabler when using a mod manager. The author also does not mention the most important part, start and run the game from the launcher to create your fallout.ini and to check that the game will run without mods. Then download and install your mods one at a time, checking in the game to insure they are working properly.
JohnerX
I did find most of that out on my own the hard way, unfortunately. Basically the only thing I didn't do in that list is install the mods one by one to make sure there's no conflict between them. I suppose if that's how it has to happen, then that's what I'll do.
