hi everyone..right to the point..I saved my save games from a 32bit sys..I was using several mods...I chg'd to a 64bit new install, but cant get my 32bit saved games to work...when I try to load, the game closes to the desktop...problem is, I cant remember what mods I was using when I saved the 32 bit games..anyway I can "read" the ESS file of the saved games to see what mods I was using? any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I'd hate to lose my character THX!

here is a 'savegame scanner' utility that displays plugins info you're looking for, including papyrus tables/forms/vars etc:

Skyrim Savegame Scanner by Mikanoshi - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15054

suggest trying this utility, it's simple/nothing fancy and runs without skyrim.

Wrye Bash is powerful/great by the way (install of either Python or MSVC Runtime needed) you can get it here:

Wrye Bash by Wrye Bash Team - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1840

@dsteve59, just wondering, i really do not understand how entries in skyrim.ini/skyrimprefs.ini would keep you from running a standalone scanner utility

to simply identify mods/plugins a savegame may have dependencies on, as far as i know that utility only looks at the ESS file.

Once you identify which mods/plugins are used just reinstall them right?

I think he meant he can't load his save even if he knew the mods he used because he edited the ini files.... though that doesn't make sense either.... editing the ini only changes how the game works right? It's not like you have to have the same ini settings to get a save to work? perhaps he changed the ugrids and it bugged his save?
