Armor slot problem

So this just started happening?

I think the Wolf Bikini malfunctioned last month. But I just literately found out even Recorder's default outfits bug out too. Out of them all, I never thought her outfits would give me problem, because I restarted the game about 4 times and each and every time Recorder looked just fine when I recruited her.

Just a thought...

Have you noticed the body changing shape when the upper garment is applied?

It may be possible that the bottom half is still equipped but no longer visually fits the body after the upper half is equipped. This would occur if the upper portion was designed for a larger body or modified with a tool like Body Slide for a larger body while the bottom portion was left at its default shape. Only way to tell if this is the case would be to see if the bottoms say they are equipped but visually do not appear to be equipped. The body itself is tied to slot 32 and so will be whatever shape is tied to the currently equipped item at slot 32. If that shape is larger it can cause clipping and / or complete hiding of other items not designed for that particular shape.

However, if the equipping of the upper garment is truly unequipping the lower garment and the armor, armor addon and NIF records do not indicate a conflict, you may have yet another mod which changes slot assignments via script. It is possible that certain "adult mods" make modifications "on the fly" (pun intended) in order to ensure that all items of clothing fit within certain slots so that they can have better control over when their mod does its thing. I couldn't tell you which as those mods were of no interest to me.

I paid attention. Each time I equip either one, the other was unequipped. It was seen on SkyUI. According to the way mod creators designed modular armors, the top armor (in slot 32) also includes the nude skin (to avoid clipping with CBP). The bottom is pelvis 52 slot, add-on like a jewelry. I built them all using Bodyslide so they should be in the ball park of the same body mesh. If clipping occurs, the bottom undies should not be completely obscured by the nude body. I have a lot of experience with body mesh and skin, so this theory is no good. Besides, I watch them unequiped in SkyUI inventory.

The 2nd theory is what I am working on, And since you put it that way, it sounds a lot like OSA. I am going to have a look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

All right, according to one of the mod author, it is a slot mask conflict. It has nothing to do with OSA. But it has everything to do with either SOS or DD (Devious Device). You can find the original suggestion here https://www.loverslab.com/topic/90644-lazybodyedit/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-2302446

But this is a quote from LazyGirl

That's a slot mask conflict. You have a mod installed that automatically re-assigns them on encountered NPCs, most commonly to "make room" for its own wearables. It's generally not a problem for vanilla outfits but for modded modular versions that use more slots it's not unusual one piece get's assigned the same location as another = conflict.

There are several mods that do this but for any visitor here Schlongs of Skyrim and Devious Devices are likely the most common. For SoS you can mark the current NPC as wearing a "revealing" outfit (or whatever the option is named) and it'll sort it out. With DD it's possible to reassign or disable the slots it manages in the MCM menu.

It appears to happen when I throw in her LazyBodyEdit in the mix, at least for me. But her suggestion works: users would have to use SOS to mark affected outfits "Revealing". And then this outfit will work with its counterpart. I tested with 2 outfits, they work so far. I will update if there is more to be said on this subject.
