CTD - losing USB support

Well, over the yeats I kinda got used to the game CTDing on me. But now there's a new issue. A few seconds after the CTD I lose all USB support. Meaning that my mouse and keyboard stop working. Only a hard reboot fixes the issue. The only thing I changed is making the FO4.exe an exception under windows firewall. But that seems a bit far fetched. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

This could be due to having missing/incorrect drivers for your hardware, alternatively (and more probable if your system is several years old) it could be an indication that a particular part of your system is on it's last legs, whether that be ram, gpu, cpu, motherboard or psu. First things first, check to make sure that all your cables are securely attached to the mb etc. It might be worth your while to do some diagnostic testing on your system components to see if you can pinpoint the issue... although I note you do seem to state that you've always had ctd's with Fallout4 (does your system meet the minimum requirements? If not, then that could be the cause) Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi

I sometimes got this with socket 1155 motherboards. On one of them I even had to reset the bios to get the USB ports working again.

It went away with a bios update years after the boards came out.

Bethesda games from Oblivion to Fallout 4 can effect computers on a lower level than any other games I have played.
