Companions V Building

I have emptied many gun magazines on companions who keep standing exactly where I don't want them to stand.

Try the Get Out Of My Face mod. They don't fight back and it's especially useful when they decide to use a workbench just when you want to use it. Push them and send them flying out of your way.

Ah, you notice settlement building was a VERY late addition to Fallout 4 (after last gen versions of the game were canned). So companion game play clashes with settlement gameplay- another reason people were so down on the game.

There is no immersive solution cos the baked-in engine limitations (Re: movement and interaction of NPCs) cannot be recoded. Companions in Fallout 4 are essentially BAD 'combat buddies'- which is how Todd has always seen companions.

We think differently cos of the amazing companion mods to Fallout 3 and Skyrim, and the narrative work done in Fallout:NV. But Todd's iron fist (and dull-witted mind) smacked down on Fallout 4 and regressed everything to a terrible degree.

How glad Todd must have been to finally rid Fallout of all those pesky 'people' NPCs in Fallout:76.

Anyway, Fallout 4 is a 'game' one must constantly work around and 'excuse'. If you insist on exposing the terrible limitations, immersion is ruined. One must really know where companions work well, and keep them away from where they work poorly. There are no magic fixes for Fallout 4 and never will be.

PS Fallout:76 makes things 'better' by the wholesale dumping of the difficult aspects of RPG design. The finally act of 'streamlining' (dumbing down) is Todd claiming the Human mind is the 'ultimate' 'computer' - so the NPC/companion becomes another gamer, whose pathing and 'conversational' ability is beyond anything you could code into a computer controlled companion. Wait- you don't agree? Sorry, Todd is God.

To get Fallout 4, and what you must put up with to enjoy the game, take the common Star Wars meme- the Darth Vader at Cloud City (I think) when questioned about his 'terms' implies that one had better make the best of what one has, could things can always get worse.

"I am altering the deal, Pray I don't alter it further". Well That's Fallout 4, and then Fallout:76.

Always happy to see your contribution to any discussion here. No sarcasm.

Totaly forgot to mention. If i work on Settlements, i can force my companions to sit on sofas. And they stay seated. As anyone can see in the distance. :-)
