steelrose0
short version - i copied the Temple of Kynareth to make my own house, which (i'm pretty sure) worked. Then i added a basement (i can't remember if i copied my house or re-copied the Temple) and i broke stuff. people visit my house as if it's the Temple, Danica is stuck under the ground in the basement, and the Temple in Whiterun isn't marked on the map and I can't enter the building... my house isn't marked on the map as being the Temple but i messed something up royally..... i added this ages ago so reloading an earlier save is not really possible. i swear i deleted all the markers from the Temple - i can't see any in the cell. with Hearthfire i /could/ just move everything out and delete the mod, but i'd hate to do that in case it doesn't fix the errors anyway. and loot-hauling will be a big pain. and i'd miss my house.... any tips on how i can troubleshoot and hopefully fix this mess? i really hate the extra company, but mostly i can't complete quests with the broken Temple. i tried moving Danica via the console and she's still stuck underground (tho she did move outside the Temple). i really just wanted a bigger library and more mannequins! greedy me... /sigh any help would be greatly appreciated!! steelrose0
little more info.. it looks like i copied the Temple cell to make my basement, then accidentally altered the original Temple cell instead of the duplicate. /facepalm. i renamed the Temple cell to not be DUPLICATE and i linked the doors in the Temple cell and now it mostly works again. many NPCs seem stuck but a couple work fine, so... (the stuck ones are minor anyway). i tried FUS to scoot one and killed her so i won't be doing that again! Danica is there but she's a duplicate without the quest marker, and she'll talk to me about everything but the quest. her quest marker is still "under" my basement floor but when i toggle collision she isn't there. i can moveto player but the marker still points underground, just near me without being there. do you think it's safe to disable the invisible Danica? will it transfer the quest to the new Danica? or should i just use the console to complete it..? cumbrianlad
Sounds like you might be better off taking a look at this in SSEedit, rather than CK, which can be a nightmare for sorting stuff like this. Load your .esp in SSEedit and apply filter for cleaning. You should then see the original temple of Kynareth listed under cells and it will be highlighted in green, amber or red, depending how bad the conflict is. Delete all references to theoriginal temple from your mod. Do this by highlighting the offending branch(es) in the left-hand pane of SSEedit, right click and delete. You'll geta warning asking if you really want to do it. Take a deep breath and click "yes" ! That will remove all the conflicts and force the game to revert completely to using the vanilla temple in Whiterun, which you haven't actually altered in the master Skyrim.esm. All you've done ismade changes in your .esp which will take precedence over the .esm when your mod is loaded. It may take a bit of time to find all the conflicts but do it a stage at a time and check the results in game. Always save a backup of the esp when exiting SSEedit and it wouldbe a good idea to make manual saves of your .esp to a separate directory each time too and name them something like MyEspEdit0, MyEspEdit1, etc. You can then always revert to an earlier version if something goes badly wrong, but it shouldn't. I do it all the time when I've looked at something in a vanilla cell, accidentally moved a plant pot or something equally stupid and the entire cell is then listed as part of my .esp! You should also be able to clearly see the Danica references in your own cell and tidy these up too. She'll come under the 'actor' heading in SSEedit, I think. She may crop up in quests because the alias reference has been changed to point to your basement. Either way you should find all of the problems. Let me know how you get on. I'm not the best with SSEedit but if I can't help more, someone else here will.
steelrose0
thank you SOOOO much! i've barely used SSEdit so i didn't think of it at all. i'm working on it - right now my house seems fine but the Temple doors say "my basement" and open to a combined working Temple and basement with armored mannequins, etc... ;) so i've still got some work to do! still, i /think/ it's progress, and if i find out otherwise i've got backups! i'll try again tomorrow!
