imperistan Posted May 18, 2012 Share Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) Welp, as the topic title suggests, what is the general feasibility of creating Sleipnir? Sleipnir being the eight-legged horse of the Norse god Odin, for those unaware. Naturally creating the actual model for Sleipnir wouldn't necessarily be hard, but of course the animation is the big issue. I would imagine that it wouldn't be that big of a deal, if you made the 4 extra legs just mirror the one's they're connected to in some way. Either in the animation itself or by linking each pair of legs together so that they moved the same way, but then again the fact that the horse has eight legs could end up making the animation not actually play out that way and you'd end up with a wonky looking horse shambling its way up the road. But I don't think that'll be the case, particularly if its possible to link each pair of legs like I'm thinking. Note, that I don't claim to actually know anything about animation or how it would react with what would be a fairly radical change to the original model, however I am rather eager to start getting into this (as there's a plethora of things from Norse mythology that are just not getting any love and I'd love to make a stride into that vast amount of content that could be done) and besides making my own model for my Mjolnir mod, creating Sleipnir sounds like a good way to start with modelling and a fairly good way to familiarize myself with animations. Also, just as a side topic, what would be recommended for a modelling program? I've tried messing about with Blender (but the whole mess with import/export of .nifs just turned me off) though I'd rather be using 3DS Max (Which I can get my hands on and I already have minor experience with it).
