BlackTestament7
I'm attempting to knock down this number of mods I have and keep running into an issue of Navmeshes conflicting in the merge (even some that shouldn't have any like my weapon mods). It's something I'm not familiar with dealing with, The GECK makes very little sense no matter how many tutorials I go through, but I've been trying to figure this out and running into a wall. I've pretty much been trying to follow the wiki instructions. The wiki says that I have to "ESMify" my merged plugin and I do that but it says something about a duplicate ,esm made, that doesn't happen. Following that when I attempt to open it in the GECK I have to open it but I can't open more than one master or something like that? I changed the ballowmultiplemasters line to 1 and I got it to open but I didn't see a change or anything so I couldn't tell if the navmesh was fixed or not. The guide says just opening it inside the GECK would fix it and then I can remove the file header and the navmesh would be fixed. Is there some message that should pop up or am I doing something wrong.
dubiousintent
When you say "the wiki", please remember that there are many wikis devoted to FNV. There are two devoted to the GECK itself: the "official" one from Bethesda, and a Community wiki (which is the only one being updated with the NVSE and JIP LN functions and new discoveries). Then there are the more general Nexus wiki, "The Vault", and "Nukepdia" sites, as well as numerous others devoted to more specialized topics and projects. So apologies if the following is what you were referring to, but it's my own attempt to explain the process. A "master file" can be an ESP file, in addition to the more usual ESM files. "Master file" refers to the "role" played as providing resources the "dependent" plugin requires rather than the file name, extension, or file header flag. Please see the section 'NAVI NavMesh Conflicts' in the wiki "Merged Plugin Guidelines for Personal Use" article. It's actually pretty simple. -Dubious-
BlackTestament7
The NAVI NavMesh Conflicts link you put up. That's the one I've been attempting to use. I think I figured out what I did wrong but I'm not at my gaming computer to do stuff. I think I misread and tried to ESMify everything along with the merged plugin. I'll try to go through the process later when I get to my PC.
dubiousintent
Your conclusion is correct. You should only ESMify an ESP file that is being used as a "master file" by your "merged plugin" file. Others should be left alone. It might help to know that all ESM files start out life as an ESP file. Only when they meet certain criteria can they be converted permanently into an ESM. Please see the '> ESM & ESP Files' entry under the "Miscellaneous" section of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article if you want more detail. And feel free to ask for clarification about anything in that article. That's how I improve it. -Dubious-
BlackTestament7
Yea, I think that's what happened and I understand it better now. I didn't see any change outside the game but the NPCs are moving around now (they weren't moving but twitching like they were trying to) and I don't see any problems. Been checking around for an hour or so any nothing seems out of the ordinary. Thx for the help again Dubious, hopefully I won't need to keep bothering you guys. dubiousintent
Glad to hear it's working now. Don't worry about bothering us. It bothers us more to know people are suffering problems we can help with. -Dubious-
