thechief18
Hi all, Was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice regarding a sudden problem I've got with Skyrim. So when I last played Skyrim, about 8hrs ago, everything was working completely fine. Tried to play it now and I got stuck at the loading screen trying to load my save. I tried different saves and the same problem occurred. Puzzled I disabled all my mods on NMM and was able to load my game, "so it's a mod that's at fault" I thought. I began to systematically re-enable all the mods I wanted. As I worked my way down the list it became apparent that there were actually two, then three, then five mods that were preventing my game from starting. Bearing in mind that all of these mods were running 8hrs ago when I played and as far as I'm concerned I've changed nothing since. Has anyone had the same experience, and what would people advise to rectify this situation? thechief
Georgiegril
Could you please list: Your Skyrim patch version,Your mods (all), noting the 5 you think are involved? Also, are they all uploaded through NMM only or do you have some through other sources (like Steam Workshop) This may help people to be able to help you. Also, have you tried running BOSS to check load order?

It can vary between hanging on loading screen or making it to a black screen but not actually appearing in-game.At the moment I don't seem to be able to reactivate TRO basic needs. I use NMM fairly exclusively, maybe have 1/2 that come from steam.Oddly, BOSS won't detect my skyrim mods, not sure why that is. This is a completely new problem, I'd like to reiterate that I did nothing to change my game before experiencing this problem, I walked away from my computer and when I came back to play Skyrim it wouldn't load my saves. EDIT: It seems to be a problem with files incorporating scripts? Simply deactivating, then reactivating Deadly Dragons (making a DD-free save in-between) causesthe problem to re-occur Edited May 19, 2012 by thechief18
Georgiegril
I have some of your mods, not all, but I have noticed a couple things that you might consider checking: Did you use Wrye Bash to create your load order? I personally use BOSS, and I notice there are some differences between your load order and mine.In particular, BOSS put my Sounds of Skyrim much higher up--just below the High-res texture packs. All of my armor mods are grouped together, higher up, about where your WIC mod is. Finally Although BOSS always wants to put my WATER higher up, I get random CTDs if it is not absolutely last. DO you have the latest version of BOSS? You might want to try reinstalling that ans running your mods through it, if you can. I asked about Steam mods, because Steam will automatically update the mods from workshop as new versions are available. This can create a situation where you think everything is the same, but in fact you are dealing with a new version of a mod that is now conflicting, where before it was not. That is the reason I try to avoid the workshop. (that and the much more supportive environment here....) If you think you've come up with 5 or so mods that might be the problem, you might try going to the mod author's website and go through all the author's info, and also the discussion thread, to see if others are experiencing the same thing on that mod, and what they did. On steam mods, you might also look to see if any updated in that 8-hour period before your game got sick. Finally, even though it seems like a mod issue, there is always a possiblity of something else. You might want to double check your computer's set-up, firewall/antivirus (if you were running in game mode, is it possible it somehow reverted and is causing your CPU to be overloaded, etc. You haven't mentioned your graphics card specs, but have you checked to make sure it is running as it should be, free of dust, not overheating, etc OK, really finally--- if you had made any changes manually to your skyrim pref.ini file, and afterwards accessed the options button on the first load menu, steam will reset all of your pref.ini values to the default, except those you just changed through steam. That can also cause CTDs if you suddenly have settings that are incompatible or conflicting. Just a thought. Sorry this is not more organized, it's late here.... Hope some of it helps!
