The head body mismatch

davycrockett - Hello!

"and look to de-select "can be all races""

Yes, that setting seemed a likely culprit to me too when I first looked into this problem.

But it's not selected on the Talons, either the working ones or the mismatched ones outside the Capitol building.

I think I may have traced the error though................

BigTambo - Hello!

You know what, I took another look in GECK since you brought this up again & I think I've fixed it.

Not had a chance to extensively test yet but I can fast travel to the Capitol Building without the fix on & see the mismatched bodies.

Turn on the fix & the Talons are as they should be.

The Talons who have the fault outside the Capitol building are:

TheMallLvlTalonCompanyGun 000A082E

I compared them to other LvlTalonCompanyGun who all seem to work fine & I spotted only one difference.

The working ones seem to have "Use Model/Animation" ticked & those Mall Talons don't.

I made a little test plugin with that one setting changed & it seems to work.

As I say, I need to test a bit more but it looks promising. :)

If you use MMM, you can fix it through that with FO3Edit.

First make a copy of your Mart's Mutant Mod.esp in your:

Fallout 3\Data\

In case something goes wrong in FO3Edit. :) You can just drop the copy back in to restore all to before this change.

Run FO3Edit, when that's done paste:

000A082E

Into the FormID box at the top.

All mods making changes to those Mall Talons will come up on the right, it's the Mart's Mutant Mod.esp column you want to change.

Right click in the Mart's Mutant Mod.esp column on the Template Flags line & select EDIT.

In that box tick "Use Model/Animation", click OK.

You should now see "Use Model/Animation" listed in the Mart's Mutant Mod.esp column now.

Close FO3Edit, it will ask you to save changes to Mart's Mutant Mod.esp, click OK.

If anyone has this problem & trys this, please let me know if the mismatched Talons outside the Capitol building are fixed for you.

Fingers crossed. :)

EDIT: If you don't use MMM you can always make a plugin with those changes to the Talons in GECK or use the "Copy as override" in FO3Edit to make a plugin there.

Hope this helps!

PS: Anyone ever notice in GECK that there's a dead Female Talon under the floor just after you enter? right under that big blood stain. That's obviously what was meant to have caused that.

hello presna , well that is good news smells like success is looming and possibly a upload to the nexus from yourself .... gonna take a look see myself this mixed up race issue has been bugging me too for some time , a simple oversight from the devs or the rusty lid on a can of worms ? fingers crossed not the latter .

davycrockett - Hello!

"gonna take a look see myself this mixed up race issue has been bugging me too for some time , a simple oversight from the devs or the rusty lid on a can of worms ?"

Well I knew about the problem with .esp added NPC's being mismatched & needing to be in .esm's instead a while back.

Along with the line in the .ini, bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles= set to 1, that pretty much sorted out any color mismatches I ever had.

Except those damn Capitol building Talons! It was a problem I've returned to many times.

Fallout wiki even mentions the mismatch problem:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Talon_Company

But it was only those outside the Capitol building I've ever noticed it on.

I originally tried to use FO3Edit to track the problem down to no avail.

Now being a bit GECK savvy I used that & just compared a working Talon Gun NPC to the faulty ones.

That setting I changed was the only thing I could see different with them. :)

Still got to test it thoroughly on several more Capitol building visits but it looks like the solution. :)

"well that is good news smells like success is looming"

Hope so, but I've had bugs that looked beat come back & bite me before so I'm erring on the side of caution. ;)

presna ,keep a hammer close to hand just in case those worms escape , but on another point recently i installed TYPE3M armor and body mod for FNV by MAK07 to FO3 and when messing about in the geck with megaton settlers and various other NPC,s was given a warning by the geck that "mod body data is missing for blah blah npc " which id edited with inventory/armor/appearence all of which had a perfect head body tone match when finished ? how exactly id provoked this response from the geck is still a mystery to me googling didnt help either but i suspect this seeminly automated response might have a manual activator somewhere within the geck , and a little bsa browsing led me to a whole batch of modbodydata files in the textures archive .

may well be worth some poking around could be the holy grail of npc editing personnally i spend far too much time banging my head against walls fixing other peoples rigs and lack the enthusiasm these days for fixing and editing games .

good luck with it and dont get like me squared eyed and dented brow .
