Belfaborac
It's entirely my own fault of course, but still.... Being a dimwitted git, I went ahead and checked out some of the pose mods available for Oblivion without paying much attention to the instructions regarding only to use them i 3rd person mode and never in 1st person. As a result my character is now left with only a torso and in a very strange pose as well and I just can't seem to get him out of that state. I have tried quitting, restarting and loading an old save, but that only works if I go quite far back - the most recent saves always load in with the character corrupted. I've also tried disbling the mod(s) which caused the problem, but that doesn't seem to work either. So anyway, I'm wondering if there is any way I can rid myself of this sorry state of affairs without reverting to a very old save or starting a new game? Belfaborac
Roger that, screenies ohoy. But later, as it's bedtime for me right now. As for which mods, sadly a bunch of 'em: Actors in Charge and the compilation called "Oblivion Pose Pack III and Erotic Oblivion Pose Pack II". Be back later with some screens. HouseAtlantic
screenshots won't help solve the problem.. unfortunately :P once you install a NIF file into a specific folder under a specific name it sometimes overwrites what is read from the BSA, the BSA file holds everything 'stock' for oblivion. your game looks for these files in your computer's Data folders before reading from the BSA.. Long story short, just remove the files under Oblivion\Data\meshes\characters\_male and its subfolders, probably "Idleanims" or something. your game should go back to reading those files from the BSA once you do. I know one thing though Actors In Charge didn't do it, here's a better source for pose mods http://wurstwatten.org/oblivion-posing-mods/
billypnats
no I need screenies to identify the problem, as I might have had the same problem. it was a CM partner, i used a couple of poses and my partner somehow turned into a floaating ball and would not come back even if I spoke to her
Belfaborac
Thanks for that info HA. However, I use OBMM and I've not let any of them overwrite anything as far as I know. I really just intended to take a quick peek and then remove them again. Anyway, I've taken a couple of screenies now; one in regular 3rd person mode which shows no anomalies, the other 2 in free 3rd person view which shows the arms of my armour, my shield and my sword only. For some reason though - and this is what I find most strange - the problem isn't always present. Just now I started the game to take screens and in the first save I tried everything was normal. I then loaded the most recent save, which showed up as shown in the screens and then when I went back to the save I tried first, that too was "corrupted" in the same manner. Strange stuff. HouseAtlantic
when you install Oblivion there are no animation poses in the data folder to overwrite, simply placing the nif in the correct folder under a certain name is enough to overwrite the BSA until it is removed from that folder, unless of coarse you installed Actors In Charge for example and overwrote files with another animation mod, but I'm running 8 all together and haven't had these problems. Obmm has an uninstall function if you install the mod with it, that's what i would do
Belfaborac
Right, I deactivated the mods in OBMM, but the problem persisted without a single anim mod in use. Then I removed the _male folder as specified above, but still no joy. Screenie enclosed.
Belfaborac
Well, it seems this damn problem has me totally beat. Guess it's a matter of throwing everything in the thrash and starting from scratch, unless someone's got any other ideas for me to try?
billypnats
w8, don't. first of all, that somehow looks a lot like typing tfc command in first person mode. type tfc again to see if it works. or its missing mesh for body parts idk. Does it still look like that if you start a new game?
