TheAlmightyOS
Hey everyone! Now that I FINALLY figured out my modding issues (Remember kids, Vortex is still alpha for a reason!) I want to start my latest playthrough. This time, however, I want to ignore the main quest altogether and instead focus on exploration and rebuilding the wasteland. Downloaded a few mods to make the wasteland a bit more lively with higher level monsters that spawn more often. Got a whole backstory written up too. Will share if interested. Here, however, is my issue. I already have 800+ hours under my belt. I already went through the pain of getting all the settlements piecemeal through Preston on at least four different playthroughs. I would not mind in the least if I exited vault 111 and had every god damn settlement under my thumb already. I can deal with that. Do you guys know of any good mods for this? What about other suggestions for making this playthrough startup less... obnoxiously repetitive?
montky
fun stuff! I look forward to seeing what FORPG "nuka break" style shenanigans you get up to on these playthroughs then, particularly once you get better-"smart Menus"/"programmable controllers", AGI-V.S.R.I. and the sim settlement or transfer settlements systems going...we've come a long way from circa ~'15, we can claw back a whole lot of time from the "making"/"world-building" side, and focus more on the actual "narrative" side. Got a whole backstory written up too. Will share if interested.Indeed, FORPG is fun stuff, you could certainly share that in a "spoiler" partition, just in case your local FORPG gang are reading the forums etc. |truncated| ... I can deal with that. Do you guys know of any good mods for this? What about other suggestions for making this playthrough startup less... obnoxiously repetitive? Quite, check out the mod-author of "RedRocketPlayerHomes" and "General Atomics Galleria",as they also made a "gibs-me-dat" mod which allows you to essentially complete all workbenches for the settlements...the long version is... those settlement nodes? they're "I-can't-believe-they're-not-the-settlement" stuff hehe.that way, you never get General Garvey, The BoS or anyone asking you to shake those settlements down etc. This is known as "Para-Settlements" <--- the settlements that Preston Garvey don't know 'bout, and won't never send you there or nothin'.Along with "Better Settlement/Pipboy Menu", you can have much more substantial settlements and really explore that. -----Choices choices...will you find the UnderBoston, the MemoryDenVirtualHolodeck new lands?what about EnclaveReturns, NewHaven, and the Good-Bad Institute?Maxwells world? BlahblahDEEblahblah's "2D-sketchland"the Theta-Tan Realm/ Hubbardonians return etc. This is before we've even begun thinking about "better readable books". or the booming retro-8bit subniche culture,or, Vids of the Wasteland (Machinima Rebijection/Throughputtable). I think you'll also enjoy SMB92's War of the Commonwealth v2.7 etcstuff like that is now more of a thing. this makes the settlement side-game come to the fore, and suddenly, it is like an RTS and an FORPG all at once again! EDIT: As for that backstory... The year is 2074. Vault-Tec is in full swing and Project Safehouse is well underway as well as the more sinister Societal Preservation Program. There are rumblings in Military circles about a plan to completely reclaim Alaska after the initial success of Power Armor. And in the dark corners of the government, moves have already been made to ensure the current government lives on after the approaching annihilation. It is this last bit that greatly concerns Senator Gibbs and his fellow compatriots. Unlike their peers, they can not turn a callous eye away from the suffering in the streets nor can they ignore the brutal annexing of Canada. Should a government who treats their citizens this way be allowed to continue after failing to offer them even the most basic of rights? Gibbs didn't think so. Neither did his colleagues in various agencies of the government. Together and under the leadership of Gibbs, they decided to make a stand. It took time and a fair amount of money in the right hands but they soon had contacts at West Tek, RobCo, Vault-Tec, General Atomics as well as other influential companies. Using these contacts they started their own Black Ops project, "Independence-2". The mission: Use their connections to have a squad of veteran marines be "chosen" to participate in the Vault 111 experiment. Upon being thawed two centuries later, the marine's objective would be to seek out any pre-nuclear war society or government in America that does not adhere to the founding principles of the nation and eliminate it. Special experimental weapons were created for this task as well as a state-of-the-art suit of T-60 PowerArmor complete with a Mk4 Point-to-Point jetpack. The group had hoped for more, but with funding (and time) running out, they were forced to adopt the plan for only a single individual. One man to place all their trust. The decision was hard, but in a burst of resolve Gibbs grabbed the phone and called his daughter Nora and asked to speak with her husband...In this Role Play you are Special Agent [yournamehere], a former Airman and pilot who helped test and develop PowerArmor jetpacks. Given the best weapons mankind might ever produce, you must take on any faction that threatens the core tenets of freedom as outlined by the Declaration of Independence and original Constitution. How you interpret them is up to you. EDIT: This is for a male character. I was unsure how to adapt it to the female character as "Lawyer" doesn't make for a background that makes sense. Though I did modify the male background to be air force instead of army. Any fellow writers/role players got any ideas? ^^ neat backstory. that'd be a fun tabletop FORPG scenario hehe.
