Deleted82156User
I seem to recall reading a long time ago about Falkreath having the largest graveyard in Tamriel and that thousands and thousands are buried there. However I cannot find anything solid on that though, just info on the smallish graveyard that made it into the game. Anyone else recall that? Was Falkreath supposed to be like that? I would suppose that those thousands of graves would still be there surrounding Falkreath, just lost in time and the woods. Any idea who was buried there...maybe just Nords..all warriors? Can anyone point to anywhere with some solid info on the lore of the Falkreath graveyard, please. Edited July 8, 2018 by Guest
TheVampireDante
http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Falkreath_Hold The town has the largest cemetery in Skyrim that houses generations of the dead, due to a large number of battles that have taken place over the years. The citizens take pride in this and many of the local shops and the farm derive their names from their close proximity to so much death. Seeing as it's a border settlement, I'd expect it to have been in many of the battles and border disputes that occurred throughout history. So a large graveyard would make sense at such a location. Likely any large amount of Nords and others killed on the Skyrim side of the border in any form that renders them unidentifiable would lead to them being buried there, close at hand instead of shipped off to a random city to be laid to rest. Deleted82156User
Ah that makes sense. 'Generations of the dead' so it is quite reasonable to expect that a lot of the graves would have been spread out from the town and lost over hundreds of years, as the wilderness took over. I imagine that quite a few from the Great War would be buried there as well. That gives me a good lore foundation to build on with my mod, thanks!
