Can't Get Past Dragon Logo

I updated the Nexus mod manager to 18.3 and also subscribed to the Radiance mod on Steam. I also put on the skse latest version and sent to load the game. Everything went according to plan until I realise that I was left with the Dragon logo and nothing else. No continue, load, new game etc etc......

I took off the skse, and unsubscribed to radiance I also went back to the copy of Nexus manager that I had on 17.1 I think it is and still I can't get it to work.

Anyone got any suggestions please as I'm getting totally ticked off with the game doing stupid, random things at the drop of a hat. I stopped playing it because of CTDs and installed the latest patch and was having very few problems with the game until this morning. Now I just can't play at all lol.

Thanks for your help guys

Are you using NMM to start the game, or going through steam?

When you were trying to use skse, were you using the "launch skse" tab from the pull down on the upper left corner of NMM?

If you are using NMM now, are you using the "launch skyrim" button?

Are you using any other mods now?

using quite a few mods. it started when I tried to get the mannequins to change from male to female. it worked for a while and then reverted back to male :(

Couldn't understand what happened so changed the load order a little and bang everything's gone weird.

Got it working again for a while but its gone again.

Totally baffled.

ok it was a mod called Radiance just kept mucking everything up. I ended up with more than 3 open instances of TESV.exe running at once.

I'm now having problems with missing textures in dungeons, barrows, ruins etc. I've enabled the HighRes bsa's (which I didn't want to do) and this seemed to work for a while and then bang as soon as I go into a quest area the textures are missing and I end up falling through floors etc. I try going out and coming back in but nothing seems to work except sometimes a complete reboot of the game.

This is what stopped me from playing Skyrim the last time, the total randomness of CTDs or missing stuff.... I just want to play and have fun lol.

Any ideas on possible fixes, maybe unpacking the BSAs and putting the textures in the loose texture files for example??

Have you tried verifying game cache through steam? If that doesn't help I would reinstall the game rather than try to locate and replace a bunch of files. Although...if you contact the mod author, they may be willing to give you the specific files that were altered, which would help a bit.

The best way to avoid game tragedy is to back up your game (I use Steam's backup for this) and make a separate savegame backup in a different folder location from time to time. That makes it easier to fix mistakes.

I also know that some people have a completely different game folder that they use to test out new mods before incorporating them into their real game.

Mods with scripts (like new encounters, NPC behavior, etc) especially can cause lasting effects, and for this reason you will almost always find detailed instructions for proper installation and removal on the mod author's description page. If there are no instructions, I personally would think twice about trying it. I would also read very carefully the discussion page, because that usually will reveal what, if any, issues other users are encountering, to help you decide if you are willing to possibly deal with those yourself. It may also illuminate how responsive the mod author is to the problems encountered by other users.

The cool thing about mods is that they add an amazing amount of variety, personalization, and depth into the game. It seems to me that most mod authors, especially on Nexus, take great personal pride in their work and go the extra mile to help others enjoy the mod they created. However, it is an open source download, so any time you add a mod you are taking a risk. Checking out mods thoroughly before using them in your main game does slow down the game, at first, but it saves a lot of time and frustration later on.

yup and I agree with what you've said and follow most of what you've said, except for having two installations of the game as I can never get it to work that way.

I still don't understand the problem with missing textures after the business with the HighRes Textures reinstalling themselves etc.

I do find it frustrating as none of the mods I've put on have interfered with the game textures in any way (they're mostly clothing, armor and cosmetic mods) so am still confused.
