Lixah1
hey guys, I recently started working on my first mod, and i wanted to mod one of the dogs in skyrim, i change the model and skin to that of a fox, and it all seems to have worked ok, except for 1 thing, i cannot interact with him any more, anyone know how to fix this? Also I wanted to create a new skin for him, i can find the dds and edit it np to how i want it. But i really don't understand how I ADD a new skin into skyrim, i don't want to replace a skin that the fox or another mob uses, I really cannot figure out how to get the game to detect my new skin, it uses the old fox template so it should be easy to add in (I would guess)Any light shed on this would be really helpful, I already tried searching around the net for this, but couldn't find anything helpful. All helpful replies are appreciated -Lixah

DizzasterJuice
The dialogue has to match the voice type on creatures too. You probably changed the voice type from dog to fox and it just needs to be changed back to work. You can apply a new texture to a newly created "fox race" on the race window. I recently found a great mod by a guy named qasiermo. which adds dogs and cats to the world, but not as companions, so i thought i'd just switch the dog model to this one, but for some reason it doesn't work, visually it does, but i cannot talk to the dog at all, the option "press 'e' to talk" is there, but nothing happens. Heres exactly what i did to change it, find the dog that i want to change in the Actors tab, once opened, i clicked the 'traits' tab and changed the race to this new dog type, and then chose to skin accordingly, thats all i changed, then saved and started the game.im new to modding and am pretty confused at the moment.help would be appreciated. -Lixah
Perraine
There are unfortunately many, MANY links and dependencies in Skyrim, it could have something to do with the 'Race' you selected, such as the game not recognizing that that particular race has dialogue options, you normally have to start from the bottom and work your way up = dialogue, AI packages, relationships ... and so on, it may take some time, but you'd be best to go through every link in the chain and find where it;s broken
