glossedsfm
Hi, A few months ago BobDole or GeorgeSears (i forget who) released the FMDL tools. At the time i was still messing around with my custom outfits in Blender trying to get the right look. I stopped working on the project but i was thinking about starting it back up again either for MGSV or maybe Fallout 4. So i was wondering what the progress has been on custom outfit mods for MGSV. To be clear, i'm not talking about playable Quiet outfits or using MP outfits in SP or taking a piece from one outfit and mixing it in with another. I'm talking about making a new outfit in Blender or 3DSM from scratch and then importing it into MGSV. Or even taking an outfit from a different game, making it conform to a MGSV body and then importing it all into the game.
CapLagRobin
Yes, that's possible. https://github.com/BobDoleOwndU/FMDL-Studio-v2
glossedsfm
I know about that version of FMDL but i want to know if anyone has actually made their own custom stuff yet and put it into the game. Aside from mix-matched outfits or making MP outfits available in SP all i've heard of as far as custom MGSV stuff is Shrek being added into the game. Your mods are pretty much the only ones i've seen that fit my description. Are other people not doing it because its too complicated? or is there just no interest for MGSV modding or what? EDIT: ohh and also have you tried doing a full outfit? i saw your sombrero and poncho mod. Have you done anything (or have any WIPs) that replaces the entire uniform from neck to toe? CapLagRobin
Yes. A little of both. Here's a good example of a full model port from a completely different game on a completely different engine into MGSV. https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/601 You can do pretty much everything now. glossedsfm
Are you and the people making their custom mods figuring it all out on their own and doing trial and error? or are there tutorials out there that you guys follow? would Unity tutorials work for this too since FDML 2 is in Unity? I can figure out most of the stuff on my own in Blender, 3dsm and Maya. I might be able to figure things out when getting it into the game but it will be really sloppy if i do it (if i'm even able to figure it out). like if i had to guess the basics of it would be:1-conform my outfit to a MGSV body2-copy skin weights3-in the fpk folder replace the textures with my own4-convert the mesh into fmdl format using fmdl v2.0 and then copy it onto a file5-use gztools to repack the fpk into the chunk folder6-put that chunk folder into MGSV game folder
