Oldbaconcrisp
I have either a question about finding a mod, or a challenge for anyone looking to mod an answer. It is about NPC allies jumping between you and your opponent in combat. The question is : Has anyone modded a fix for keeping NPC allies out of your combat space, specifically keeping them from jumping between you and an opponent. If there isn't such a mod, can anyone build one? A prime example: I just ran a quest with two allies. During combat I would leave them to fight an enemy while I ran off to find one of my own. Just as I'm settling in for some good sword action, both of my "allies" rush the opponent I was fighting, somehow sandwiching themselves between my sword and my opponent. As a result I chopped the back of my allies head open. I have had this problem far too often and it is one of the reasons I can't stand having a follower/companion/ally with me. So - Has someone done something about this already? If not, Who can?
Jyotai
Sort of but not completely. The mod Follower Tweaks: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6656- You can go into the tweak options and set up a couple of things that won't fully solve this, but will greatly reduce it, but you might like the results even less, playstyle depending. Basically set all the NPCs using the Tweak Options - Settings to not be near you. Then go into the combat option and make them all either 'magic only', 'magic and staff', or 'bow and arrow'. Then open a trade with them and remove all melee weapons from them.- Finally... you then will most likely need to play melee only. Which some people like and others do not. The problem I had when I was doing this was my followers would then be blasting me with AoE spells... There is a file for this mod to prevent friendly fire - but due to Skyrim limits, if I recall right, it only prevents them from killing each other - they can still kill you... So my current setup... I went magic, set all my ranged followers to bow and arrow, and then put one melee follower to some heavy enough armor to be able to survive me hitting them a few times. But this is likely what you're currently dealing with anyway... (I also started cutting down myself to having only 1 or 2 followers at a time, and I use the above mentioned mod to keep a large stack of former followers in my house -as it lets you tell a dismissed follower to stay in the 'cell' they're in when you dismiss them- so I can swap I can bring depending on mood... The best option though... is going melee and putting all your followers at ranged. Ideal setup for this is one with bow+arrow and the other magic, but use that mod to remove all their attack spells and make them a dedicated healer...(followers with bows seem to shoot me a LOT less than followers with even single target spells hit me).
