khaoskidd
Hey all, anyone know if there's any way to save an Oblivion install that lost it's save folder? Don't care about the saves cuz just recently reinstalled but got it running so smoothly with a buncha mods then my HDD with 'My Documents' folder died so I lost all my saved settings and the OBSE files that get saved settings to there. I managed to set a new path for a Documents folder and My Games which in turn got Oblivion to start BUT trying a New Games just crashes. When I look in the folder I made for the new documents Oblivion ain't even using it, see it made it's own folder in K:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Oblivion\My Games\Oblivion BUT before i made the new path to the new documents\My Games directory it wouldn't even start so got one step closer. If I try to start Wryebash, wryebash just crashes and won't start. Any hints to what I could maybe try would be appreciated, also if you know I'm SOL please feel free to tell me so I'll quit wasting my time trying. Was hoping everything would just make they're new ini's when I start up but no luck! Thanks again and happy questing! Update: I changed the paths in WryeBash's ini and now wryebash starts and loads Oblivion BUT still crashes on new game! Also in reply to qwertyzeldar I'm not using Steam, it's disk installed. khaoskidd
Sorry, not trying to bump just noticed something weird, when I load OBMM and go to Utilities>Save Manager it gives me an error with this as the save path: E:\Games\Oblivion\My games\oblivion\Saves, where would OBMM get this path from? I'm guessing any OBSE plugins that have to add anything to my save directory are not finding it because I don't see any pluggy stuff in there which i remember seeing in my old save directory. I even changed the directory in the oblivion.ini. Aaaaaand I didn't install from disks, couldn't find any of my DLC's so just bought GoG's GOTY version, know I'm using the right OBSE for that version cuz before I lost MyDoc's it was running fine. I changed the goglog.ini and goggame-(bunch of numbers).script file with my new save path, thought that may fix it but nope!!! And realize now I lost the file to reinstall cuz that was on the HDD too but I'd imagine I'd be allowed to D/L it again. Only thing i can possibly think of is how can I tell OBSE where my new save directory is or rather where does OBSE get that info from? Thanks again! khaoskidd
OMG never gonna believe it but got it to work...needed to change the oblivion.INI file with the fonts from DarNUI after that it loaded right up!! Can't believe something like that could make the game not start! Thanks, guess can delete this post, sorry!
