landy8
I've noticed one strange thing... It seems that Bethesda loves thieves and the Thieves Guild. Really. In Oblivion the final TG quest was to steal the Elder Scroll. I mean, TO STEAL THE ELDER SCROLL!!! I still remember my excitement when I first got it! And in Skyrim TG seems to be the most worked out faction. It has more radiant quests than any other faction, and it's the only upgradeable guild in the game! And no, I don't count DB with its purchaseable furniture. In TG you have to work to uprade it. Maybe some of the Beth guys have some... personal reasons for such TG's promotion?..
robanybody2000
Pros for TG: Fences, can make lots of money, tons of radiant quests, Master's Armor, Prowlers Profit.Cons for TG: They're a little on the genocide side, Vex is a b$%&h. Pros for DB: Ancient Shrowded Armor, Cicero's Gloves and Boots, lot of radian quests aswell.Cons for DB: It's hard not to kill Astrid after the first few missions, Festus dies, you can't initiate the purification as Listner. StayFrosty05
Call me naive but I am having a hard time getting into the Thieves Guild quest line and I haven't even considered the Dark Brotherhood. I just can't bring myself to beat up or kill people simply to further the aims of the Guild and that sleazy bunch. The whole idea repels me. What are the pros and cons of not pursuing these quests? I'm level 32 and have been putting this off and staying out of Riften for about 20 levels. I'm with you....I tried the TG once and ended up disliking that character so much, I deleted him....In Oblivion there was something noble about the TG, a Robin Hood kinda feel...in Skyrim, their just low life bullying, thieving thugs....so I would say a 'con' is, how would you perceive your own protagonist if the whole idea repels you already. ...As for the DB, I know I will never play that quest line, zero interest in it and LOVE finally getting to destroy the DB, I had searched long and hard for ways to destroy in Oblivion and feel Bethesda finally giving me the ability to do so in Skyrim is one of the best aspects of the game. Perraine
Hmmm ... I'm kinda taken with Sapphire, once you get her to open up a little, she has the makings of a really great sub plot/backstory ... Same as Rune ... Damn me, but I kept asking and asking and never got the (what I thought would be at least) the next part of the conversation .. .And the battle for the leadership is kinda interesting, but it was very poorly implemented ... All in all though the TG, as a group, are pretty lame
MacSuibhne
What are the downsides of doing the Goldenglow estates quest? Aside from the mercenaries who gets hurt? I am looking to do a few TG quests as possible to get the disarm shout and maybe Chillrend.
fraquar
By the time you get to Chillrend you might as well just finish the TG questline altogether. Doesn't really make any sense not to by that point - seeing as you find out he already tried to kill you. Yeah, there is the business with having to join the Nightingales - but I'd have a hard time not taking the chance to get back at him for trying to off me. poli13
I went for the TG instead of the DB (I know you can be the leader of all the guilds in skyrim and nobody gives a sweetroll about it but I kinda like to role play so meh) thet the I hate the DB I hated them in oblivion I hate them in skyrim too I mean they are the only assassin guild in the game and I woud like to play as a assassin character in a assassin guild but they seem so un proffesional sure they kill hige ranking members of strong factions easy but they are sooooooo unproffesional abbout it ther guild feeling is totaly turned me away from them it woud be nice if I coud yoin to a other assassin guild wihc isn't controled by some mad corpse wiht a mad god and whriten a dark/evil religion on the guild all over it. Well with enough skill, and invisibility potions , you could manage to sabotage the Estate without killing anyone. The objectives outside can certainly be completed without bloodshed, you just have to be quick on your feet.Personally, I'm pretty fond of the Thieves Guild. The only draw back, is that cursed Maven Blackbriar. It seems like all the factions have fallen under hard times over the years. Except for the Companions of course.
