Dragonrend Crash?

Whenever I try to fight Alduin on top of the Throat of the World after getting Dragonrend and try to use it on him, the game crashes shortly after he lands(presumably when Dragonrend ends and he tries to take off again, though I don't know for sure). I have no mods that affect Dragonrend and the only mod that should affect Alduin is Deadly Dragons, which hasn't caused this before. Has anyone else had this problem or found a solution for a similar problem?

Sorry, here's the list of mods I use:

And here's my load order:

If there's anything else I can add to help solve this problem, let me know.

Well, I'm sorry, nothing sticks out for me.

If the only place you have this issue is the Throat of the World, and only when Alduin tries to talk, it seems like there must be a mod conflict during that moment. Unfortunately, there is often no certain way of telling which--

I would start with mods that might possible affect Alduin, like SkyTEST, all the dragon-related and all the monster mods

Ones that affect the interface, like First Person Messages

And then ones that affect general environment..the snow, rain, SOS, etc. It seems odd but there has been a history of SOS causing issues that seem completely unrelated.

You could also try verifying your game cache...just in the event that the problem is main file corruption. This also has worked for me in situations where I almost didn't bother...you never know...

Anyway, that's what I would try. It is time consuming but unfortunately the coolness of making nearly unlimited changes to Skyrim through open-source mods comes at the price of some occasional and painful troubleshooting.

I've tried turning off various mods, including playing with no mods, and verifying the game cache. Nothing worked. I think its the save file, though, since I use console commands to get a new character up there and he beat Alduin with no crashes, using the same mod layout... So I guess its solved...

But does anyone have a clue what could cause my save to do that? It doesn't make sense that a save file would crash a game like that, to me at least. Not a big deal, though. Thank you, Georgiegril, for your help!

You are welcome, glad you figured it out. I don't know the specific mechanism of save game corruption. I have read that using auto save can increase the chance of having one. It does seem like they happen quite a bit in Skyrim and I'm not sure there is any way to specifically prevent them.
