Jinxxed0
[sOLVED] I have no idea what could cause this, but people in Riften aren't moving in any of the games that I start.I mean, when I enter the city for the first time ever, everyone's standing there. The guy that recruits you for the thieves guild just stands in the same marketplace spot and when I agree to help him and he starts calling out for everyone to gather around him, none of the other NPCs walk toward him and then he just continues to call out for people to gather around him (it would be funny if it weren't so game breaking). I can't think of what could be causing this since none of the other cities I've been to have this problem at all. I'm hoping someone knows about this bug because I can't find anything on it via google. I have way too many mods to list and I'm sure if theres a way to copy/paste the list anywhere. Has this happened to anyone? Also, I don't have anything that affects Riften like "sexy Riften" nor "Open Cities" Edited May 27, 2012 by Jinxxed0

Has this happened to anyone? Also, I don't have anything that affects Riften like "sexy Riften" nor "Open Cities" I think the navmesh for riften isn't there. So tell me do you have a mod for riften? That mod has no navmesh for riften. Navmesh can be defined as the thing that tells the npc's where to move in the cell. Navmesh stops a npc from bumping into walls in a dungeon as you fight. So when brynyolf calls them over to see him, they don't know how to walk over to him, but navmesh placed on the ground would tell them. I'm by no means an expert on mods or navmesh. But I know navmesh is used to guide the path of npcs. edit~ I just read your edit. It's got to be navmesh. But perhaps some one else can help. Sorry because I don't know more about navmesh. Jinxxed0
Thanks for replying. I'm not sure whats causing this I guess I'll just try disabling all my mods minus the cosmetic ones and install the dodgey ones one at a time.Is the navmesh an esp thing or is it in the data files somewhere? edit:Okay, i just checked off every single mod and everyone's walking. Now I'm gonna go through and enable non armor stuff one by one to see which one is causing it and then post back here just in case anyone else is having this issue. It's not a mod. Basically every interior should have navmesh. and I believe for the most part the world map is covered in navmesh. Navmesh is quite literally the thing that tells an npc where it is safe to walk. So for instance, if you have a dungeon in the shape of a figure eight, with no navmesh (which I believe is similar to what's happening with you,) the npc doesn't understand that the ground is shaped like a figure eight. But if you have navmesh in the shape of a figure eight on the ground... it gets it. With all that said hopefully it's not a bug in your game. Because if it's just a mod that has accidentally removed the navmesh from Riften, it will be much easier to fix... Get rid of the mod. Might I try suggest starting off by unmarking every single mod even the graphical ones. Just in case. Many people make custom dungeons with enemies in them and wonder why the enemies don't move. Because they didn't lay down navmesh. I'm unsure though because you say you have no mods that change riften. So I'm confused too. EDIT~ great so we know it's a mod and not a bug. Hurray! We seem to edit at the same time a lot. Lulz lol yeah. And now I feel like an idiot. I found the problem mod. It's the stupid adoption I downloaded from the steamwork shop. I have no idea why that didn't ring any bells when you said a mod that affects riften. Thanks a bunch! I would have never thought to check that mod out right away without your help. Kudos to you good sir. So yep possible people of the future who used google to find this forum post, it's the adoption mod that either caused this or is conflicting with something we both happen to have. weaponfx
Thank you Thank you Thank you.... Had the exact same problem walking around in Whiterun.Turns out mine was the Complete Skyforge kit V3 Mod, removed that and everyone was back to mindlessly walking around. KnuckleBucket
I have a similar bug except every NPC from town is inside the Bee and Barb and won't move... I have no adoption mod, and I don't have a clue what is causing this. No one will move in the thieves guild either.
