Who called for the DB hit on the Dragonborn?

My question is who in their right mind would call a hit on the reincarnation of a dragon? Surely the word about this figure single-handedly slaying dragons would be enough for the DB to say "Nuh-uh. That's suicide."

Besides, doesn't the DB only take contracts that adhere to their "code of ethics?"

Db? ethics?

whut?

They declined the only code they ever had - Five Tenets. Skyrim's initial DB is more like a bunch of murderers than the Dark Brotherhood of Oblivion times. BTW, that Astrid b**** could simply send some poor clueless initiate to try to kill Dragonborn. It's quite like her!

Yep, she's a smooth talker with great a$$ but you don't wanna' trust the backstabbing, two faced b****, especially since SHE decided that the Skyrim chapter of the DB weren't going to obey the 'code' anymore, that got me worried when I read that and I started to distance myself (as much as the plot allows) from her

this calls for a mod to get rid of Astrid and put the Dark Brotherhood back on track...even if it needs slaughtering that whole band of crooks in the name of sithis and starting anew... with a compelling questline afterwards of course just before stepping down from the leadership and assuming a more secondary role of listener or something ;)

Yet Listener is a DB leader. Since Oblivion, at least. In Morrowind your character could join Morag Tong, but not DB (and in Morag Tong there was a quest to murder the Night Mother (!)), and in Daggerfall DB had no Night Mother, no Listener, no sanctuaries (DB halls were right in cities - some unremarkable houses) and even no Sithis! DB's highest rank was called "Master Assassin".

You guys have too much Astrid hate. Put yourself in her shoes. She never had a listener, or the night mother, or keeper and the DB is in a shambles since Oblivion. She finds a way for them to not only survive, but thrive. And all her people love her. They call it a family for a reason.

Then she lets someone new join, who happens to be extremely dangerous and the keeper shows up and declares him a leader (listener) and she's supposed to just go back to how things were and trust this isn't a scam between the two?
