How do you decrease fog distance in outside world?

When looking over long distances in skyrim, there is a fog in far distance, with blurred LOD in the middle, and of course the full detailed loaded cells directly in front of you. I would like to bring the fog closer to perhaps help with the ugly mid level lod. Does anyone know where this adjustment is located?

To edit this, you'll need the Creation Kit.

 

1. Open the Creation Kit and load Skyrim.esm
   
2. Click on World, then Weather
   
3. Click on the weather type that's used in Skyrim's climate, and near the bottom you'll find the fog settings.

So there is no "universal " setting? Each weather type would have to be edited individually?

Unfortunately, yes. However, if there was a universal method, I'd expect it would go wrong ingame with some weathers having closer fog than others.
