JimboUK
The game makes a save before the Battle for the Dam, the save is named SYS, I wonder if that is it. I have several named as Systemsave Charactername.fos
wfandrews
The game makes an auto-save before a number of quests whether you have auto-save turned off or not. For instance after you talk to Raquel at the fence and then the scene shifts to Mother Pearl in the Boomers quest line. I have never noticed that systemsave before tho. It has always just said autosave. Also dubious said he had never had that system save while playing the game. It has always been systemsave and then the extension, fos and nvse. Something must have changed in my game but I have no idea what. I am going to uninstall my gog version and reinstall my Steam version, install the exact same mod load and see if this happens again. As far as I know the only difference between the two versions is the the 4gb mod comes automatically with the gog version and you have to install it with the Steam version. Actually I do not know what that will prove but it will be interesting to see if there are any significant changes.
JimboUK
Check the saves accompanying image, I bet it's in the Penthouse.
wfandrews
If that is not a facetious post, how do I do that? Assuming I can make it happen again.
Majic7
Mouse over the save in your save list. It will show a screen shot. The screen shot is kind of small though.
wfandrews
Do you mean the saves in Documents/My Games/xx? I moused over them and got nothing but the save data. Is there somewhere else where Windows keeps your game saves?
Majic7
Your save list at the beginning of the game on the options page, click on load and your saves will show giving you the option to load any of them. Don't click on them just mouse over the save, example save 15. A small screen shot of what was going on at the time of the save will show. If you don't have any manual saves then you be boned. Auto saves only show the last moment of your game. Reread your original post and it looks like you do have some manual saves.
wfandrews
Ah-color me dumb. I should have thought of that in the beginning. If I do get a "crash" save again I will do that. Although I do not know what Penthouse jim_uk is referring to.
JimboUK
The Lucky 38 penthouse, the system save is made there when you opt to go the dam and is the one that gets loaded after the dam. Scroll down through your saves and look for one called SYS, the accompanying screenshot will be of the penthouse, you could also use FOMM's save manager to see it. wfandrews
Thank you jim_uk, that explains the reference. I had not entered the Lucky 38 at the time I got the "crash" save. You do realize that FNV creates an auto-save at the beginning of a number of quests whether you have auto-saves disabled or not; I always disable all auto-saves at the beginning as they are notorious for becoming corrupted.
